  • The boyfriend has sent me back to university with two Tupperware boxes filled with his famous pasta sauce which he made in bulk when I was round at his. Have decided for valentines day I am going to send the boxes back filled with homemade goodies seen as we can't afford to see each other for another month now :(
Any ideas on cupboard based recipes? Have decided on some ginger nuts :) they're one of his favourite and very easy to make, all cupboard based apart from butter and an egg which I'd normally have in anyway. Any other ideas?

Also, making good use of my free tins of spaghetti from a valued opinions survey test thing :) they're big tins so 4 free meal additions, don't mind if I do.

Snow here too, however, it has started to turn into rain which instantly freezes. Fantastic :D

  • Also I have started on the 'visiting supermarkets in the last hour before closing' - family pack of seafood divided into 5 portions for £1.80, don't mind if I do :)

Aw LW, a month is a long time!

Do you have any almond essence and ground almonds in stock?? This biscuit recipe is gorgeous, I reduce the flour by 25g down to 125g and put 25g of ground almonds in, they taste almost shortbread like. Keep well, best biscuit I've made recently.

Sounds delicious, I normally us red split lentils and a bit of Chinese five-spice. Next time I see butternut squash on offer I'm going to roast it and serve with Puy lentils.

I normally cook the squash in water but all the latest tv chef recipes I've seen roast it with skin on then put it in the blender - so trying that this time instead. I've never thought of using five spice and I have some of that.. I usually add chilli. The recipe I'm going to try is from the Daily Mail (I hoard recipes as well as food ;) ) and uses red lentils. Love Puy lentils too though, I usually have them as a side dish, River Cottage beef and puy lentil recipe (without the beef). Good hot or cold. Lol @ the biscuit comment.

I don't even do that! Because it softens so quickly, I just add to the rest of the vegetables for the last 5 mins of cooking before I add the lentils, stock and seasoning, bring to a boil and blitz.

Morries was dead and the nice Guy was just reducing all the bread with the "managers code" down to next to nothing.
Spent 40p - WOW - and came home with over £4 worth of bread and rolls - only took the quality stuff!!
Rustica rolls @ 5p for 3, pick and mix rolls @ 15p per pack x 2 (Guy put 6 rolls in per pack, bless him), and my "speciality bread" this week was date and walnut @ 5p (from £1.49)!!
Bought a pack of cream scones which are on offer at 59p for 2 - total spend = 99p. :money:

Just had some date and walnut bread with butter, quite nice and bagged the rest up and froze. Should last the week.

Some nice little recipes coming in.

Went to asda and spent too much again 5this afternoon. !!!!ed off with myself, need to rein in the spending but perhaps it's cos I've been skint the last few weeks. I hope so anyway! Tomorrow qwill be a NSD. Not happy with the weather as it means getting the bus for the school run lol.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
