I just found it as I wanted to try as well:-)

    JJ's Herby Cheese Bread:D

Mix ingredients together in this order below with a fork until it forms into a ball, then finish with clean hands:

    8oz SR flour

1.5oz fat (any will do: butter/marg/suet/spread/reserved fat from cooking joints, etc)

    4oz grated cheese

Handful of herbs (I prefer chives:))

    1 egg

Up to 1/4 pint of milk (add gradually as if making scones. You may not need the whole amount;))

    1 tsp mustard.

If too wet add more flour, if too dry add more milk.

Method for bread to accompany a soup:

Pat/roll it into a circle on a tray.

Cut it into 6 wedges and slightly part them.

    Glaze with egg or milk.

Looks like this as they go in the oven:
    photo-64.jpg?t=1335546246
15 mins or until golden around 200 degrees
Then it should look like this (mmmmm, smell that!):
    photo-65.jpg?t=1335546854
    Verdict: Nom!
    photo-66.jpg?t=1335548045

    Method for dumplings:

Roll into 6 (or more if you want smaller ones) balls and add to a simmering stew.

Pop back into oven with the lid off and allow to cook in the liquid.
Cooking time depends on the temperature I'd oven and size of the dumplings. I usually leave em in a good 20 mins. :)

    Hi

Not been on for a few days as have been really busy but have managed to use up stocks or at least make them into a meal which has then resulted in leftovers for the freezer which will be handy when I go back to work.

Sunday: steak pie (used 3 1/2lb of stweing steak and 12 sausages - scottish steak pie lol) - Made enough for 3 pie fillings so we ate 1 and I froze the other two just need puff pastry for them and voila.

Monday - spicy chicken stir fry for me and DH and fish fingers with noodles and veg for DS2 - 2 fish fingers gone and a bag of frozen roast chicken gone from freezer.

Tuesday - pork casserole. Pork fillet taken out of freezer but enough made for 2 meals so 1 meal for another time back in.

Wednesday - DH hamwiches, DS2 chicken nuggets and pasta shapes (they were fending for themselves as I was away collecting DS1 from his dad's, which is an all day trip). DS1 McDonalds as a welcome home treat and as we were going to be late home. Me toast as didn't feel like eating - never do when I am travelling.

Tonight - sausages and mash. Taken some Sainsburys TTD sausages from the freezer. Veggies from the garden probably griddled courgettes, broccoli and carrots.

We are at a BBQ on Saturday and on Sunday we are travelling up to Inverness and staying overnight back on Monday, so nothing much to be used at the weekend. Will make a menu plan for next week as I will need to do my shopping on Friday as I won't have enough time otherwise.

Loving some of the recipe ideas especially the courgette ones as I too am growing courgettes and have tonnes.

Mushroom & Cheese Risotto for tea last night, using up some veg and store cupboard bits, with enough left over for two portions to go in the freezer (well, one is in the fridge as I plan to have it for tea again tonight).

I'd never had much success making risotto before, so this time I tried making it in the slow cooker - and it was spectacularly good, even if I say so myself:)

It worked out at about £4.70 in total, mainly because I used porcini mushrooms - but they make such a difference to the taste that it was worth it.

In to freezer - HM Victoria Sandwich.
Out of freezer - 3 HM Muffins.
Here is the all in one recipe cake I made last night. No baking today - oven not going on.
We had a piece of cake - mid morning - I even let Mr F have a slice - he was sweeping the side alley for me.
I used the No Bits jam I got from £land - yummy.
