If you feel bad about not getting a beauty bargain but having to take a refund instead, imagine how they must feel - it sounds like they're at grave risk of going bankrupt and losing their business entirely. It would be extremely difficult for anyone to give perfect customer service when faced with a situation like that. Imagine having to smile in the face of someone who's taking money directly out of your handbag and you're getting nothing in return? Now imagine having to do this thousands of times. I know I wouldn't be able to. And all because of an error in judgment they made, based on false information from KGB.
I do think these groupon-type deal sites tend to take advantage of the naivety of small business holders in order to profit off them disproportionately. They don't care what happens to the business after the deals are done, only that they get their share of the profits. In this case they're like vultures feeding on the remains of what might very well be a dead company.
I do believe in fighting for the rights of consumers, including the right to get the best deals possible from the large corporations that are constantly trying to get one over on their customers and have done so for years (Tescos for example). But when this affects a small family business like this one, it's different, it's not right and I think we should all have some compassion.
I totally agree with you. No one wants to see a family run business go under. KGB have a lot to answer for, perhaps this company should seek legal assistance in realtion to KGB dubious advice?0 -

Yep , does the group buying site care if the company goes under? .... NO , they'll just take the money and run!!!
:(
Not saying they won't pay Beauty Stop just saying they must have got a good amount of money from this deal £3.50 x 3,000 = £10,500
Even with the refunds issued they've made a fair cop out of this one deal / company!!0 -
I got my refund email from KGB today after a couple of attempts, and four attempts to contact Beauty Stop. I've no gripe with either particularly - I was one of the first to try and get the deal and when I rang beauty stop was called back by Nicky who wasn't aware of problems on their site and wanted to help. Since then the service from both hasn't been great (and I do understand the frustrations of those who haven't had good comms - me included), but I suspect beauty stop will have suffered more. But, KGB deals won't have been untainted by it, they will have loads of refunds to process and complaints to handle, and it will put people off future deals. As another poster said, lessons learned on all sides. For anyone who is seeking a refund, KGB seems to be doing it without argument now, so this might be your best bet to get your money back, and possibly to help beauty stop who will just be in a worse position as time goes on. I like a good glitch/deal, particularly if it is in one of the biggies like tesco, don't like to think of a family enterprise being under huge duress/bankrupcy because I can't get my elizabeth arden eight hour cream for a third of the normal price. I'd advocate being "kind" and just get your refund. sal xx0

I still feel VERY sorry for Beauty Stop as am sure KGB won't go bankrupt / lose their entire business over this one deal and the refunds just mean they lose their ''additional profit'' so they don't make an actual loss
Its quite a big mess re a deal going wrong but surely KGB have been running for long enough now to ''learn this lesson on both sides''?!
This has been one of the biggest boo boo's but other deals have gone wrong too due to over subscription
Then yes they have lots of refunds to process , once again , but then they can dust off their feet and move onto their next money making deal but where does that leave the company and their reputation as people will ALWAYS buy from group buying sites but not from one single retailer who now has a bad reputation and doesn't offer multiple deals but one source of stock , one chance and a single reputation to blow
Majority of KGB deals DO go through fine but I feel for the small retailers / businesses who actually get damaged from a deal which was meant to enhance their business and not do the opposite unfortunately!!!0 -
One of the main ''feel good'' factors of me going into the group buying line of work is the fact that you can HELP GROW a small start up business ... Its a good and rewarding feeling
I like the small guys eg a family run business and will be thrilled if I can have a part to play in offering them a way to increase their customer base , which is what it is all about!!!
:D
So here's hoping and  to group buying sites actually doing lots of good for the small businesses especially as well as finding good & do-able deals for the customers

I havent read this post for a while and just gone on beauty stop and there is not a single item on there? Have they gone bust or have they just temporarily stopped trading until they get their money from kgb? Also if they have gone bust - does anyone know if will we get our money back?0

WOW just had a look and you are right there is nothing on there!
Feel sad for them and am sure everyone can get a refund via KGB who did not get their items...0 -

I am somewhat sympathetic, but my view is that ANY business even small family ones have a duty to do due dilligence if they are professionals and therefore BeautyStop have to take some responsibility for not checking this out and having some foresight.
Yes everything is easier with hindsight, but businesses need to do carry out due dilligence of their own.0 -
Anybody heard/received anything recently? Its the not knowing that is so frustrating! If Beautystop are not able to send my products then thats fine, I can ask KGB for a refund, but saying nothing, not replying to emails or answering the phone is not helping anyone

Think I will give it another 7 days and if still nothing, I will ask for a refund

I got my refund last week after ages of sending endless amounts of emails to beauty stop with no reply, i contacted kgb they were so nice they apologized and refunded me straight away the same day. I heard a rumour this week that some of the products on beauty stop are actually fakes :-(0
