no, thats not correct, sorry. For some people, just going over the 8 in 24 hours can cause toxicity problems requiring liver transplant. In hospital you will never get more than 8 (or 4 grammes) in 24 hours. You might get supplied will more to take home with you than what you can buy in the supermarket because the law says you can only buy 16 in one go as an unsupervised (by a pharmacist) sale. You can buy a larger supply over the counter in a pharmacy and your GP can prescribe you a bigger supply, but the max dose is still 8 in 24 hours.

I would suggest you pop into your local pharmacy and have a chat about what else you can get over the counter hun, or see your GP asap

Well that is what the consultant told me when we were in for someone with a paracetamol overdose.. I know who I'd be believing!

It also isn't the number it is the amount of paracetamol they contain.. eg. kapake/tylex has double the amount than the OTC ones.. plus 4 times the amount of codeine. My mother has them for migraines.. instead of 125mg they are 500mg plus 32mg codeine in tead of the 4 or 8 you get from the chemist. She is prescribed 8 of those a day.. as was I after surgery.

I'm not saying she should take hundreds I am pointing out the chances of 10 instead of 8 causing issue are negligible when much higher doses are prescribed for various reasons and it was to reasure uropa she wasn't going to die.

Obviously there is always someone who has adverse reactions to any drug and paracetamol is actually quite addictive and easy to fall into the addiction which is why the OTC dose is so low. The docs work out the dose based on weight and age so they can give higher doses.. but 8 in a day will not kill a child unless they are allergic.

uropa... the first problems you get with too many paracetamol is headache.. which is how people do accidentally OD on them.. they then take more for the headache the headache gets worse.. etc etc.. After that you start feeling sick/being sick as your body rids itself of the poison... so silly people then take more thinking they have vomitted up the nice medicine..

Morning!! :) I've had to come down to get some ibuprofen and paracetamol in me. My writhing was keeping poor DH awake! Now i'm scoffing two crumpets since my belly was empty. I almost made it to the 24 hours mark, but was just 1.5 hours off. It's a calculated risk. I'm just hoping that the antibiotics start to work quickly.

Right! Off for a salt rinse. Have a good day all! :)

The codeine element is higher in Kapake but always paracetamol is 500mg in cocodemol OTC and bog standard paracetamol that you buy from Tesco etc.

Ohhh sorry it's not me with the extraction! :o It's uropachild.

Nope still got all of mine, unfortunately. :p dentures have gotta be less painful than this! It's some sort of jaw ache type thing, on my right side, upper and lower.

Sorry, I got confused. Do you think you grind your teeth/clench them in the night day? This can cause jaw and tooth pain.

Cyclingyorkie, I think you need to have a chat with your hubby, what he did is not fair or kind. Glad you had a lovely time on your trip.

I agree with Triker, that was a mean thing to do to the kids.

Up early due to the time of year. I've done a few bits in the kitchen, washing on the line but the clouds are coming in. One lot of emails deleted.

Going to feed the cats, clean the sink and then make a start on the regular day stuff.

Right well I am in again and finally have a keyboard that I can type with. Thanks to all at FLC.

GlaD IT IS THE KITCHEN BECAUSE NOT REALLY IN THE MOOD TO DO ANYTHING ELSE (sorry for cap locks)

Things not looking good with boyfriend. Went round there at the weekend an we had an argument when his daughter was there (she was there but woke up when he was shouting) He now says he need a break to see if he wants to be with me (handle the arguments etc ) Not sure what to do or if I can take him back. Problems should be fixed inside the relationship not I will break up with you and call you in a couple of days.
