regarding my earlier post about that out of date tortilla, MR. T have asked me to return it to the store for a refund or post it to them.

am i wise to tell them that i'll be doing neither of them and sending it to trading standards?

Yes do take them to trading standards

I got some MOULDY biscuits once,....before the sell by date etc... took them back after eating 1 piece then realising they were mouldy.
And they didnt seem to care...
Only offered me a refund...so was not happy............
complained to HO only offered me £1 gift voucher.....a laugh or wot...told them next time if ever I go to health officer...

A few years ago i bought a lettuce which had a bug in it, took it back & they just gave me the money back. Then from the same store i bought some naan bread which when i took it out of the wrappings found it was very mouldy, even though it was still in date. Took it back & they weren't very helpful or apologetic & just refunded the money. I also found a white hair in a sandwich, took the half eaten sandwich back & they just gave me back the money for the sandwich.

I emailed a complaint to CS as i wasn't happy all it all & its disgusting having a bug in my lettuce, mouldy naan bread & a hair in a sandwich. All i got back was a standard we're sorry email but these things happen.... really!!!
I didn't email to complain to get anything from them but i was surprised by their email. When i complained to McDonalds about some poor service they sent me a £10 voucher as a good will gesture. Clearly tescos don't do that which i was surprised at considering what i was complaining about.

The mediterranean rigatoni is in the freezer section - SEL is for £2.99 and also marked 'discontinued'. I got 3 last wednesday from the shelf with the rest of the range.

Tesco Finest British Beef Sirloin Steaks(2 in a pack) -

Yelllow/black SEL Offer £13.49kg(was £16.49), but only fullprice stock on shelves last night. Pack prices are around £8-£9, by catchweight[approx.500-600 gms], so DTD of around £3-4 per pack.

I checked this out last night and it worked for me. I bought two packs (none on display showed the £13.45 per kg quoted on the SEL) which were priced at £16.45 per kg.

Went to CS to claim the DTD but the poor girl admitted she was useless at numbers so I had to assist her with my refund of £6 per kg.
    Many thanks OP.
  • Just been to Tesco at Bracknell - picked up two pink Collins English Dictionarys (they had quite a few left) They went through at 21p each... Not a very exciting Christmas present I know.... but a cheap one!!!!!

And what do you think trading standards will do?? Do you expect Tesco to be able to see inside every packet, or check every single pack on every single shelf. I think you will find that they will say a refund/replacement is more than adequate. If it was a branded product then it is the supplier who is legally responsible for it as it was still in code!!!!!

Oh no....not a bug in a lettuce....horror of horrors. How did that get in there?? Oh, because they grow in the ground, outside open to the enviroment. Should tesco rip apart every lettuce to make sure there are no insects in them. Really, what do you expect with a natural product!!! As for your bread.....you didn't notice it was mouldy when you purchased it so how do you expect Tesco to know it was mouldy. These things happen!!
