Tesco misprice discussion area part 16

Yes - reading from the Leicester Trading standards newsletter Tesco could be in some trouble.... see
"ARE YOU CHECKING YOUR RECEIPTS?"
Many of us are tempted to by special offers when we are shopping for food -
like ‘BUY ONE GET ONE FREE’ or ‘LOWER PRICE’. But you may not actually get the bargain that you were expecting at the checkout, as ‘special offer’ prices are not always recognised by the checkout. So when the item is scanned the old higher price could be charged.
Unfortunately it’s a fact of life that we don’t always check our receipts. But try and get into the habit of looking at the receipt just after paying, then ask for a refund if it is wrong.
It is a criminal offence to advertise items at a reduced price or as part of a special offer, and then charge more at the checkout. We have prosecuted companies in the past for this. The difference in price might be quite low, but the volume of sales means that consumers who are overcharged boost the company’s profits. By reporting the overcharge to Consumer Direct (contact details on back page), even if it’s only a few pence, we can then take action at the shop to prevent it
happening in future. We will check our database to see if this is a regular
occurrence or just a one-off. If it’s a regular occurrence we will check if the
company has rectified the discrepancy after it was reported to them. We will
also want to see that the shop has checking systems to prevent overcharging
happening.

REGULAR OCCURENCE!!! TESCO and TE - I think you might be in hot water now!
P.S We all use this discussion board to find out bargains and get R+R - thus providing us physical and financial gain - have you really got nothing else better to do with your evenings than to sit and type messages about changes to TESCO policies...?Tesco is my second home:j0 -

I bought something from Tesco that was an out of date sel and offer did not come up. CS were very rude and told me i wasn't entitled to an R & R as the date was on the sel (i don't even know what day it is...!) After 5 mins negotiations amongst cs they did howveer agree to honour the offer (reluctantly).
I'm really angry at the way i've been treated like i'm an idiot for not looking at the date on every sel, have rang dundee and they basically said it's at the stores discretion, is there anything else i can do?
Thanks
Glad to see your sorted out.....well donebrindles01 wrote:Be warned. If you come across CS/Manager who tells you they can't do RnR because of an OOD sel then they are perfectly within their rights to use this excuse. I have phoned HO (twice) and my local TS officer who also backed up this get-out-clause. If THERE is a date on the sel and you purchase something after the end date they DO NOT have to honour the price shown as it is up to you to see this date. It does not matter if it is hidden in a bush on a roundabout (big banner!) or up on a shelf. So if you get this defence from Tesco admit defeat and walkaway, you will not win.
This is incorrect.....I accept that you have been told this....but its wrong.
This would give licence to have incorrect prices everywhere, with tiny little dates on them.
Its misleading advertising.
I'll leave it to some one with more Consumer Law experience than me to give the "lawful" answer............but it cant be justified
Cue MUNT or Ben500 please...............or anyone else with this expertiseCouponing....."every little hurts"

People, can we get a grip please? There are more Tesco employees who read and post on this thread than TE. I know it's easy to take pot shots at TE by mocking who he works for, but remember you're insulting all those friendly and helpful Tesco employees on here at the same time. I don't think Constantine and Spa deserve it, to be honest. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

They don't deserve it he does .0 -
I'm probably being completely thick, but can someone or anyone tell me how misprices occur? Should all Tesco's scan the same price, and it's the SEL's that's wrong, or does each store imput it's own prices?:rudolf:0

I agree, Spa and Constantine are valiable assests to this thread and it wouldn't be half as amusing when we trawl through 20+ pages everytime we log on if they weren't about. Why can't you all stop bickering and stop feeding the troll.
I don't post much on here but even I know TE is a wind up merchant, if you ignore him he will get bored.0 -
i would say 98% pof tescos scan at the same price but there are dispeancies between some stores0

enough lager to last till next year, all my xbox games paid with at a lovely shop that "trades in" with all the free mispriced games I've had in the past few months.
Took back and exchanged enough dvd's to get everyone in the family the top titles for Christmas.
Used all my CC deal vouchers (most earnt from wombling up the rubbish) in MFI.
Filled my freezer, and my Mother's, and do you know what, tomorrow, I'll be back at the stores, getting as bloody much as I can!
I'm sorry, but I find this attitude so completely repulsive.
And I hit your thanks button by mistake. If there was a repugnant button I would have hit that.“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0 -

At the end of the day i work for a company that doesnt treat its staff or patrons with respect. So i would not like to slagged off just because i work for them.Oh look a bunny!0
