honey06 wrote:at the store i was in yesterday, one poor guy was having major problems. From what i could gather, it was a tv and receiver bought for christmas which were faulty but the store refused to do anything as he didnt have a receipt.
the duty manager offered to use his clubcard details to see if he could find a record within the last 2 weeks but said otherwise couldnt do anythig as they could have been bought anywhere at anytime. i heard the poor guy say he ahd been there ober an hour and was intending to take it as far as he needed and would sue if necssary under the sale of goods act but the manager still wouldnt budge.
and unfortunately, (imho) unless proof can be produced, the manager was correct, but if it was bought using a clubcard.....proof is possible to get.Couponing....."every little hurts"

But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

True, proof of purchase is hard if item was paid for in cash and there's no receipt (not sure if that is the case), otherwise it should be traceable. If it's an item with a guarantee card in it (those things we never normally bother sending off) it may be worth registering with the manufacturer using that. At least you're covered for something. Can I help?0

If you've used a card then you could just show a bank statement to show a payment to Tesco this should be enough.0

I understand the statutory rights issue. I just think that if they would normally do an exchange then why should it differ because of their policy. With regards to using the receipt that's a definite no no as they obviously mark it. There is a glimmer of hope in the fact that the item purchased is unique to Tesco so I'll give it a go at the weekend. Thanks for everyones help.0

Constantine has been given the bar code this morning and is on the case.
Nope - either this is just a problem with your store, or Constantine has solved the problem because this is scanning at £2.93 for me today.:rolleyes:0 -

For this reason if you are going to buy on a card I'd suggest only buying the product and nothing else - e.g. t.v. costs £299.99 and the magazine you get costs £1.99 -grand total £301.98 is shown on your statement (not the £299.99 you are tying to prove).0 -
Hi im new to this but just had to let u know that i returned a faulty iron to tesco with no receipt and they said they could trace reciepts for up to three months backdated, receipt found and exchange given.:j0
