Is it worth getting an in-car video camera

Consider a HD 720p 808 #11 camera. ( View this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj26JjSiazQ )
I have one and it's great value for money. It has a huge following as well.0 -
Now the problem with these cameras is, you can never permanently erase the data, so it could prove you were speeding, as most do and if you are in an accident, it would get seized as evidence and could ultimately see you blamed .
These things are for the drivers who think they are better drivers than anyone else
I got mine to safeguard my insurance NCB, and also to capture interesting moments on the road. I didn't buy it to drive like an idiot, cause near misses, shout abuse at drivers and then upload the videos to Youtube to show my 'superior driving skills' which is exactly what Strider does. Don't let him give us all a bad name.0 -
If you hit anyone from behind then the gap you left was to short and you failed to read the road ahead.0

Your making pretty big assumptions, my motives are nothing like you seem to think. You don't know me, so don't judge me by your own "standards".“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Quite easy to permanently erase data. Also as there not calibrated they may be admissible in court.0 -

First point.
Any data recorded can be overwritten to such a degree that makes it impossible to decode.
A very simply once or twice overwrite with a secure erase program will make this info unreadable to most people, but if you give it 35 overpasses to a Gutmann standard, it is to all intents, totally gone. (unless you have an absolute fortune and a supercomputer, and even this isn't guaranteed to retrieve any info).
Second point.
Unless the camera was pointing at your speedometer, there is no way that any recording could be used to prove that you were speeding.
The recording may be used to prove dangerous driving but not speeding.0 -
That is unbelievable. If I did loads of miles this clip would have sold me on the product instantly. Glad no one was killed, but just shows you how you can be in an accident at any moment with no control over at all. -Also shows you what absolute muppets some drivers are!0
