The only thing putting me off getting one of those cameras is the fact that I know that sooner or later I will forget to put it out of view whilst parked and some scrote will smash a window to nick it.

A neighbor that I give a lift to a function three times a week, did not notice it.

I pointed it out to him about two months ago. (and he sits in the front seat)

A Roadhawk is the one I have.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

I seen a small one that fits next to the rear view mirror, think it was in the Maplin catalogue, not sure how big it was though, as I have not seen one in the flesh.

if you have an accident and people notice the camera it could get awkward.

Yes it could, especially if your up against an "Icelandic" crash for cash gang. (word substitution, to remain "politically correct")

I kept getting it out and waving it in my mums face and she had absolutely no idea what it was or what I was doing.

Ahhhhhh, lets not go there...... :o

I've got 10 minutes footage of her staring right at it and trying to guess what it is :rotfl:

My friends all though my camera was a torch :rotfl:

  • strider you do not wish to be personally judged, but your personally judging others with posting footage of drivers on you tube, as you do this, you open yourself to be judged wich is something you didnt considder, you retaliation to the situation is what we've witness here in this thread, and thats to make out your "better" at reacting than anyone on the planet, when it comes to driving and that everyone will plough into a back of a car with no working brake lights, thats your opinion based on no actual fact you have not seen anyone on here driving nor witnessed it, what we have seen is fact from your youtube footage of some NOT ALL but SOME of the situations that have arisen, to wich in my factual opinion if you continue to drive as witnessed by many in two of the videos posted here (the mini and the pug) you will most certainly have a serious accident. whilst you may take this as a criticism as you probably will, i on the otherhand would look long and hard at myself then look into how i could better myself at driving.

    Hi,

Hoping for some advice. I drive about 100k miles a year, and have had two accidents, both of which clearly weren't my fault but both where the other party tried to contest liability.

Both were found in my favour eventually but it's a pain having to fill out twenty forms and spend ages on the phone to get it sorted.

I was looking at getting an in-car camera as they are less than £20 and would hopefully prove beyond doubt what happened. I was wondering if anyone has any experience of them, and whether insurance companies will accept video you've recorded yourself? Bus companies around here all have external CCTV so I guess it must have some value, but would be interested to hear experiences from anyone who has it installed.

This is what I am looking at buying: -

Its a little bit more than £20, at around £200, but I've heard brilliant things about it on a car forum that I post on.

Believe they have some sample clips of what they capture.

I'm looking at getting one when I have some spare cash.
What is pi? Where did it come from?

Surprised they have a clip of a car doing 120mph on a dual carriageway.

You may well find that that particular camera is illegal to fit into a car in the UK.
I'm pretty sure that it is illegal to have an in car DVD player or television where the screen is visible to the driver, and you might well find that this camera will be treated the same way.

I think that might be the customers Vauxhall Monaro that got taken on a joy ride by the people who were supposed to be servicing it.
