Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 18th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
We have heavy thundery rain forcast for this afternoon, lol.
The outlaws will be here in half an hour, so I best go feed next door's cat soon, so I'm back in time for them.
The living room is full of balloons, the fridges & cool boxes are full of food, the beer is already outside in dustbins full of ice.
Thanks for all you good wishes, I can't believe how kind people are. I'm posting a few pics on my blog this morning & will post more tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Hello long time no see
Just popped in to wish Hester and the Minder congratulations and have a wonderful day xI didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you
I am one of the English sexy Shelias
I'm also a hussy0 -
Hester - cant wait to see your pictures. I think thunder can be very dramatic and romantic but will really keep my fingers crossed for fine weather.
Just taken DD to work and just having a cuppa before transporting DS1 to his new job. Im really hoping he settles at this job and doesnt mess up:o
Im venturing to the shops with Kids Dad later and then he is running my Dad's cards over to him. No special fuss for Father's Day as I spent a fortune on Kids Dad last weekend :eek::eek: But I will try and make a special lunch tomorrow and do some baking!
I also need to rally my kids as no cleaner next week so will need their help with the heavy stuff.
Hope you all have a really lovely day and am thinking of Hester and the Minder xxxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Good morning everyone -and a special :j for Hester and Minder. It's funny how involved I feel from afar. I really do hope that the day is perfect for your both and look forward to seeing the pics tomorrow.
Off to Birmingham shortly but back tomorrow. I suppose, with a push, I could drive back later today but really don't fancy the 400 mile round trip.
Last night thought something had died in the kitchen  but soon tracked it down to a pan of water on the cooker - forgot to rinse out the steamer which I had used for sprouts the other day.
OS is still not buying anything and eating out of the fridge, if you ignore the standard Friday night Chinese takeaway that is!
Anyway - have a fabulous day folks. And congratulations to Hester and Minder again.0 -
Happy saturday everyone and congrates to Hester. Hope you have a wonderful day and that the sun will shine down on you......

Congrats Hester and have a great bash.--Morning everyone else.
İ never caught my plane for my annual trip home. i am still in Turkey soaking up the sun-my father said i made the right decision based on the weather forcast--its a pity because if i had got home i would have tried to get to see the test match at southampton which is near my home--the weather and turkey are conspiring against that!
i didnt catch my plane because my sd failed to receive her visa in time and my wife 'convinced' me to stay til we could travel as a family-broke my heart to waste 3 tickets but for family harmony i stayed!--my wife has to go to work everyday because the visa will be received at the school address and she needs to sign for it or it wont be delivered!
İ am at a bit of a loss of what to do now-i suspended my gym memembership and i am officially not here so no work. i also moth balled my car and gave my wife's to the in laws so 'we' are stranded!-just have my motorbike!-i am surprised my adsl and saterlite tv are still working because i suspended them as well!!--its a good system here where you can suspend everything while you are a away and it saves 1/12th of fees a year.--we get 13 months for 12 payments!
İ think i am going to investigate having a hair job done today, while i am kicking my heels. in turkey if you go to a place and decide you want something done they do it in 'Minutes'!---i had my eyesight corrected last summer -i went to investigate and within 30 minutes i had been operated on and out of there!-as long as you have a credit card there is no waiting. the cost was spread 12 months throug the credit card company-interest free.mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
good luck hester and minder!!0

Morning everyone
HH - hope you and Mr Hester have a great day x
Continuously raining, started yesterday and hasn't stopped - glad I'm not away in the caravan this weekend then!
Enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, DH watching catch-up tv and DS1 slept at mum & dad's last night as has karting lesson this morning and they need to leave early, DS2 still in his pit. Was productive yesterday, went to the bank, did a food shop, took bag of clothes to CS, bought replacement parts for the broken toilet in our en-suite, and picked up some green bean plants - need to get them planted if we get a break in the weather! got our bed changed, made 2 doz cupcakes, 1 doz choc chip cookies, 1 doz scones, and 1 doz vienesse fingers - not made this before but quite easy - but you did need to put mixture into a piping bag and pipe on to baking tray - so ok if you can be bothered with that, but they are one of those things that are not difficult but look quite impressive.
Today we will be mostly painting, deep joy, but we need to get it done. Have to decide what we're eating today too, have quite a lot of food in the fridge and freezer but not sure what we're having today, tomorrow and next week is menu planned - need to address this as weekends always let me down.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning :hello:
Congratulations Hester, hope you have a great day  Can't wait to see the photos.
We bottled another 12 litres of elderflower champagne yesterday, and picked a big bowl of raspberries from the garden. We've got loads of spinach growing, I've been eating it raw. I hate the taste of cooked spinach.
We bought two hebes for the garden. It's nice being able to put colourful plants in the garden without the chickens eating them
We went to a factory shop to buy new mugs, our very old ones were chipped and the handles were coming loose. They were piled up on wire shelves and very wobbly, as I picked one up three others wobbled and fell off. I caught two but the third crashed to the floor. Everyone in the shop went silent and stared at me. I burst out laughingTwo old ladies declared very loudly that the shelves were unsuitable for stacking mugs like that, that was the cue for a couple of sales assistants to rush over to me and ask me if I was OK and tell me to leave it, they'd clean it up. I was on my knees picking up bits of mug, I couldn't answer them because I was laughing so much. I don't know why I thought it was so funny, it just WAS
Must go, need to pull up some radishes and clean out the chickens. Will catch up later.Bulletproof0 -
