I applied yesterday for these freebies ( or not so freebies!).
I think I will make a new year resolution of
1. Always reading things properly & the small print before jumping in.
2. Not assuming it is good because everyone else is doing it too!
But mind you I had areally big book of grolier called the little book of knowledge( and it was not little either). I cancelled my account with them on the day I received the free book( did not have to pay P&P for it )so I would not receive their other books that you would have to pay for
Still I have learnt a valuable lesson and thats not to make errors like this in the new year. As a moneysaver!2012 - Emergency savings fund goal by December 2012 £3000.000 -
its ok if you want other stuff from them but you still only get 1 tin thoguh0

Okay I'm really sorry if I've upset or worried anyone.
Just remember when your chocolates come through that you read (and keep!) the paperwork. Hopefully it will all be fine and they won't be conning anyone this year.
As I said in my earlier post, I actually ordered these in 2004 and was personally jfine as i'd been sent a code to use, it was other MSE members that had some real problems with them and it was awful to read some of the stories posted. I think some of the threads may have vanished from the system since the big MSE site upgrade though (when we all lost loads of posts
).
I hope that it's all fine and everyone gets their free chocolates okay.
Take care."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Moving to the discount code forum

Thanks for the warning, it may be something which isn't an issue now, but it's better to be warned and weary (or steer clear) than joyfully skipping into the doom

I've ordered some, I'm vaugely remembering their catalogue from a few years ago, and having ordered without problems, but since I'd got a good deal on crimbo chocs from Tesco I'm not too fussed about not getting these so will probably cancel.:rotfl:0 -
I order from the quite alot.. never had a problem..
U only get 1 tin.. and yes if thats all you order then u ay delivery.. would have to be pretty daft to think otherwise!
You jst have to read what your signing up for.. its pretty clear.0 -
What people do not seem to realise is that if you go for this offer you are in fact opening an account with them and for those who think "HOW CAN THEY SEND A BILL ?" please think again. You will receive monthly statements. It has never happened to me but from past years it has happened to many other MSErs. You might be happy to "fight it" and take them on but be aware of what you might be getting yourself into.0

I phoned up to cancel, since I was a new customer I didn't have a customer reference number and the order number with confirmation wasn't showing on their system, so I couldn't cancel it like that (and can't log in to their site either), so the woman on the phone advised me to write in to them to cancel the order as it prob wouldn't be processed for a couple of days anyway, so hopefully my letter would get to them before they processed and dispatched the goods.
Hmmm.... *narrows eyes suspiciously* Oh well, if I get the item(s), and they make me pay postage I don't mind, as long as it's a proper full tin
Otherwise, they'll have the might of a displeased C00kie on their hands! :rotfl:0 -
this was on last year and a lot of us tried for it. I seem to remember getting a small box and also being charged for it. When I complained about it, I didn't get any reply. So I decided to ignore the invoice, I later got another invoice stating they had added on an extra £10 for non payment of the original £4.99. So now I owed them £14.99 for a small box of Quality Street received. I then wrote to them telling them I still had the chocs and if they wanted them to send me a label to send them back. I had a rant about the extra charge and I then got a letter back telling to keep the chocolates and they would waive any charges owing. I wouldn't touch this one again.0
