No probs
2 large bramley cooking apples (I have used eating apples when then have started to go a bit wrinkly )
4-5 parsnips
2 veg stock cubes
crumble up stock cubes to a powder add two-to-three litres of water .Peel and chop to oxo-sized cubes the parsnips, and throw them in the pan. Cook to a simmer until just starting to soften.Peel and chop apples and chuck them in on top, cook until all is soft and you can stick a knife through them.Whizz up in a food mixer or blender and portion up.Its beautiful and easy peasy to make I sometimes add a teaspoon of ground cinnamon or nutmeg to spice it up a bit .I love home made soups ,my friend bought me a book called 'The Soup Bible' and its great for recipes.I haven't bought tinned soup for years as it is so easy to make and uses up and tired and past it veg in the bottom of the fridge drawer
Ooh, that sounds fab. And something I can do easily when I'm not feeling too brilliant - just the job! Thanks for posting; I've snagged it and will look forward to trying it. It'll be after my hols now, but at least the recipe is safely stashed on my flash drive.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Pouring rain up to now, seems to be clearing a bit...got drenched going to bank this morning, no parking nearby.
Hester and Minder....hope that to-morrow is a lovely happy day that you will remember with pleasure for the rest of your lives....enjoy the takeaway to-night.
Taking DD4 out for lunch to-morrow for her 30th birthday....seems like only yesterday she was born, will have to realise soon that she is actually grown up...a great daughter, mother, teacher and friend..she's had a few hiccups on the way but seems to have ironed most of them out now.
Just had a lovely chat with DD3 from Oz, Friday night with her, she sounds very happy and is spending the weekend getting her new 'unit' sorted out....they are thinking of buying a car but BF still has no job so hope that they wait a while, they don't need one really as public transport is excellent, takes her an hour to get to work but she's an early bird so has no problem leaving home at 7am, gets home about 6pm so still has a nice evening to relax.
Made a tea brack yesterday, hadn't made one for ages but was reminded by a friend talking about one...it turned out well, especially with butter, which is really good for my cholesterol....but will be long enough dead!
Need to go collect DGS2 from school in a bit and we are then going to try to skype DD in Oz....so long as he doesn't get upset we will be fine....as a toddler he claimed 3 mothers....his real mother, me and DD3 so he misses her lots.
Enjoy the rest of the day everyone....Essex girl, taking it easy will hasten return to health so be careful

Hi all,
Just popped in to wish Hester & Minder everything you wish for yourselves,
EG baby steps!! you sound like me, trying to catch up 'cos you're feeling better, don't overdo it
Welcome to all delurkers.
Who is having cod & chorizo parcels? I've forgotten alreadyplease could you post the recipe? am trying to get DP to eat more fish & he loves chorizo. Today we are having whoopsied smoked haddock poached in milk with peas n mash nomnom.
Hands are feeling better today so have been doing a few bits, not too much tho' (must practise what I preach lol) would have liked to get out in the garden but it's pizzling down so have had to do houseworky type stuff boo. Am now going to look on Amazon to see if they have the last two books in the Diana Gabaldon series I am reading & then I think it will be time for a little snoozle on the sofa before everyone comes in.
Hugs, spoons & hi5's as deserved.

Well I got the stew done, but the bread dough is on its first rising. I'll finish the job after I've slept -- it's 3.47 am! Stew as per my one in the stew thread, but with 2 carrots, 1 potato, 1 aubergine, 1 leek, and 2 courgettes. Didn't eat straightaway and good job too, as the flavour had improved massively in the hour since. It tastes fantastic now.0

Just wanted to add my best wishes for Hester and Minder tomorrow. Was going to leave it until the morning - but maybe HH will be a bit too busy to login then! Well be thinking of you and looking forward to the pics!Resolution:

Evening all
Am sooo looking forward to bed tonight. Took DS shopping, he spent £20 and put a deposit on some xbox games that he wants when they come out, so he has over £80 left. I've taught him well. Couldn't be bothered to do tip run as it was raining.
Dinner was tuna pasta instead of pizza as I forgot to get the dough out. DS now out eats me in everything!
Welcome new peeps
Have a good evening all

Just jumping on to wish Hester and The Minder all the luck in the world tomorrow, I hope the sun shines over you and you have a beautiful day. Its our anniversary tomorrow, and the sun has shone every year since on June 18th, I hope tomorrow isn't any different. I shall be thinking of you both. xxxIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0
