OS Daily Friday 17th June

Options

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 17th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
I have been to bed & to sleep, honest.
I finished work at 2:30 yesterday, hubby was invited along too & we were given so many lovely gifts. These included a £25 garden voucher, £10 M&S voucher, £110 cash, a beautiful embroidered wedding sampler & a night in a hotel in a four poster bed!
My 2 daughters took me out for a drink last night, a sort of mini hen night which was lovely.
The only downside to yesterday was when I went to feed next doors cat, their DD left a snotty note saying I wasn't grooming the cat carefully enough, well if she's got time to come & check up she can look after their cat next time they go away, bloody cheek!
I'm going to start on my jobs list for today, I best do something quiet for a couple of hours till hubby wakes up.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester! I'm glad you got some more sleep. Very excited for you! Ignore note about grooming cat - I'll bet your neighbours are horrified when they see it.
Sun shining here in Edinburgh and I've been out with the dogs with a T shirt! Yes. But it was a bit cold. Rain forecast from lunchtime so have to make the most of any sun to ensure even a tiny bit of vit D.
Not been posting so much lately but I have been reading.
Chicken casserole type thing for tea - will make enough for 2 days. I'm making more meals which do the next day as well - saves electricity. Our fixed price finishes at the end of Aug.
Had a day in bed/ on the settee yesterday with a tummy bug of some kind but feel much better today, just a bit fragile!
Hugs to anyone feeling down or unwell. Hope the sun shines on you all at some point today.

Hester - so excited for you :) - leave the note for neighbours to see on their return!

It's friday already! Wahooo. Lunch is l/o from yesterdays lunch, and some whoopsied fruit salad (50p down from £2! OH has one too) OH's new phone is arriving today, so he's said we're staying in tonight to play with it. (i'm just glad we're staying in!)

Dinner is my first ever attempt at Green thai curry. I hope it goes well. Will probably get a couple of washes in the WM tonight and trying and sort the house out, so tomorrow i can relax.

OH has a job in London today, so is taking the tractor up there - always a fun experience! It's v. good money though :)

Is £56 too much to pay for real ugg boots? I've found some on sale and seeing as i live in them about 9 months of the year they do get worn alot. Mine are 2 years old and have had it, now have holes in them!

Fathers day on sunday!! we have got my dad an indoor sky diving experience. Not sure what to get OH's dad yet, probably take him out for dinner i think

    Have a lovely day all

Morning Hester and all who follow,

Hester, have a wonderful day tomorrow, can't wait to see your dress!

Here it is a lovely day again, washing is on line and children off to school with packed lunches. OH and I will be off soon with our pack ups.

Today is work and then hopefully a quiet evening.

Morning everyone, it is night here! Absolutely knackered all day at the office. Was almost prepared to prop my eyes open with matchsticks. I'm going to have an hour's nap, then it's chop, chop, chop, scrape, scrape, scrape, slice, slice, slice, to make a lamb stew. The mince cost me NZ $6, which is about three pounds sterling, for 475 grams of meat from the butcher. Other ingredients are potatoes, courgettes, aubergine, leeks, and carrots. If I remember to buy curry powder and a pot of cream/yogurt I'll bung some of that in. While that's cooking in the oven (about 3 hours) I'll be making/proving/rising 4 loaves of bread. They can go in as soon as the stew is ready. While they are baking I'll make a batch of pizza dough to use later in the week. A baking bonanza on a friday night. Wish me luck! :D

    Good Morning Everyone

Hester - so glad I got back on here in time to say Good Luck for tomorrow :) x

Been mia last couple of weeks as been so ill. Had reoccurrence of illness I had last November but managed to avoid hospital this time. Doc thought had worked out what it is but turns out is isn't so more tests and docs visits to go. Am feeling a lot better but get exhausted very easily so trying not to overdo things. House is a mess, OH has been trying to keep on top but with working full time, sorting DD & her exams everything has got behind.

Today as I am feeling the best I have been for a fortnight am going to try and get some things done. Starting with the kitchen. Going to give all the worktops a good clean. Hoover and wash the floor (will leave the rest of the house for OH tom) then will do the ironing. Have loads of stuff on sky+ to keep me occupied.

No idea what to have for dinner, have been having picky things recently as appetite not too good. Will have a route around the the freezer in a min.

Better get off here now, hope havn't missed any monumental newa & (((hugs))) wherever needed.x

    Morning everyone

HH - have a wonderful day tomorrow x

Dry bright and sunny here this morning. Washing out on the line and another load ready to go in. DH up and off to work but not at stupid early o'clock, so he brought me a lovely cuppa in bed to start the day. Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket and beans/veg. Was productive yesterday, got the housework done, just need to sweep and then scrub kitchen floor (will do that after I've done baking/cooking later - no point doing it before), ironing done but will have some more later, managed to get the wiper blades sorted for the car and the guy at the garage fitted them for me - so I have a happy DH! Will take bag of clothes to CS, when I visit the bank shortly, need then to do a food shop, did the menu plan and shopping list last night. Want to get the baking done but should have DS2 Sports day this afternoon, but forecast doesn't look good, so will have to wait and see. Dinner tonight for the boys should be DS1's pizza that he has made at school, that's if it's edible or there's any left!! Made a loaf of bread to go with dinner last night and the menfolk all love it so much it was all eaten last night, not very OS but I don't mind as it's not a waste of money if it's all eaten and enjoyed! Also need to buy some more paintbrushes for the painting marathon tomorrow - I'd best get myself moving then.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
