swallow your pride m'friend
phone them back
tell the person the deal you were offered and that you will accept it now, thank-you-very-much!
Hope they're still feeling generous.

I have thought about ringing them back, they have since sent stuff through the post with a cheque but the interest is 2.9 They even said on the phone to me to put it in the bank and earn interest for 7 months, the temptation would be there to spend it and that's why they do it.0

Just read your articles on existing credit card customers.
I have been with MBNA for approx 5 years never paid more than 8.9%. Also have Barclaycard Visa so applied for there Mastercard & have been accepted for it but only 0% till February 05 & have to pay 2% handling fee.
Dont like the idea cos it would cost me £66 to transfer £3000.
Solution ring MBNA on there 0800 freephone number ask what they have to offer on transfers, there answer 6 months at 0% + £35 max handling fee.(could I do better ? ) tell them not to sure about it, they answer how about 9 months at 0% + £35 handling fee. take them up on that as just saved £31 handling + extra month at 0%.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Just came to the end of my 9 month 0% introductory rate on my MBNA card. I've already transferred the £7000 balance to another card, so I rang up today to cancel the MBNA card and was surprised that they offered me the following deal:
Credit rate increased to £8800, balance transfer £8600 today at 0.9% (transfer to a current account allowed) for 6 months. No handling charge to pay.
Needless to say I took them up on this offer - my alternative was to apply for a new 0% card but many these days have 2% handling charges which would be higher than the 0.9% over 6 months I'll be paying. Anyway its all easily offset by the new Cahoot 5.5% savings account. ;D0 -
Lloyds TSB are still offering 0% for 6 months on balance transfers or 1.9% for a year. I phoned up saying I wanted to cancel my card and they offered me it on the spot! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Already have a 0% balance tranfer deal with Barclaycard from their make one purchase a month offer. When I spoke to them at the weekend about making another balance transfer I was offered 6.9% for lifwe of balance or 2% for life of balance which incurred a one off handling fee. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I rang Beneficial (HFC) today to ask about BT's., and was offered 9.9% for 6 months (Standard APR on my account is 24.9%). I casually commented "That's still rather high for a balance transfer rate." Put on hold then offered "Manager's Special Rate" of 4.9%. Shades of Dixon's!
I also got them to transfer some credit limit from my GM (HFC) card, which they've cocked up, increasing my Beneficial limit by £1000 less than they've reduced my GM limit. Interestingly though, CS woman thought at first I was asking to do a balance transfer between my 2 HFC cards and was apparently abuut to happily do so.
Incidentally CS for both these HFC cards can be phoned free via their respective card activation numbers: GM- 0800 252 251, Beneficial 0800 328 0331. If your card's already activated these numbers put you through automatically to CS

I applied for a Citicard last year as they had a 0% offer. Unfortunately when I got the card although I was given a whopping £4000 limit they didn't give me 0% (circumstances etc).
Last week I rang them up to find out what their rate was on balance transfers as it had to be better than the massive rate I was about to be charged by Natwest (and I couldn't get any new cards from anyone) and the bloke said that they could offer me 0% for 6 months!! Could they not had told me this before I applied for every 0% credit card in existance!
Anyway, it's a lifesaver for me and I thought I'd mention it just incase anyone else out there has a citicard that they haven't used for a bit as they may be able to get 0% too.
JoNo reliance should be placed on the above.0
