Heathrow - is this possible?

Your parents could catch a direct train from Darlington/Durham or Newcastle to London Kings X and then the underground from Kings X to Heathrow T3 so only one change.
I've always found tickets cheaper to buy over the telephone than online.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

Thanks for the further info on trains, but as I said they don't want to use the train. They don't want the hassle of carrying luggage on the underground, and there are no trains running on the night when their flight home lands, so they would incur hotel charges too.
Dad has said it would add to the journey time too, which he is not keen on either. Here I go again on my own....0 -

So to recap:
1) Original flight plans from NCL to LHR are pants and need changing at a cost of £150.00 total. Dad not willing to do this.
2) Dad not keen on train, even so cost would be £100 total (guessing) and return train journey is not feasable without too much hassle.
Solution:
1)Take the hit of an admin charge to change the flights to earlier, more convenient.
2) Never let Dad arrange holidays again !
Hope they get there:D
If you flesh out the details with dates\times of flights etc someone may suggest better alternatives (except for solution 2) )
Personnally I've used the train at Kx then Underground to LHR and it is a doddle- even with Mrs blindman and all her handbags\shoes:eek:0 -

You seem really patient ... I'd be fuming! I wonder how long your dad thinks the journey time will be if he misses the flight from Heathrow. Good luck and let us know how they get on.
Just a thought ... would a train journey really add on much to the length of his journey. Not sure how close he lives to Newcastle or how long before the flight to Heathrow is he expected to check in but in that time he could be on the way to London by train.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

I met my Mam for lunch yesterday, and told her my concerns.
Dad is under the impression that BA will radio ahead if the Newcastle flight is late and someone will meet them at the gate and rush them though to the other terminal. This happened when they went to Delhi and the Newcastle flight was delayed, but they had booked BA for both flights. I've said in BA won't be as helpful as they are changing to a Virgin flight.
He also thinks if they miss the Virgin flight, that Virgin will happily pop them on the next flight. However Mam is worried as they are going to Mumbai then Goa, so they'll miss their Jet airways flight in Mumbai and have to make more arrangements there. Also the hotel they booked has arranged a free car and driver to meet them at Goa airport, so they'll miss him as well and have to find their own transport to the hotel. Personally I don't think Virgin will be accomodating if they miss the flight through their own fault.
The trains are a no-no, as it's about 3 hours sitting to London, compared to about an hour on the plane, and he's not keen on using the Tube at rush hour (will have to cross London about 5pm).
At the minute he's stuck in his ways, but Mam is going to have another go at him this week. I'll see them on Christmas day, and as part of their presents I've got holiday stuff, like books and sweets for the flights. I'll make some comment about hoping they manage to get on the flights, and see if I can work on him that way.

If there is as much fog then as there is now (I'm talking London - but Newcastle Airport is famous for it's fog) then they don't stand a chance...0

Personally, I think you'll be telling your Dad "I told you so" !!
BA and Virgin won't co-operate if the Newcastle flight is late. They only radioed ahead last time beacause they were probably booked all the way through.
If it was me, I'd have left way more time in the first place, but if I had booked those flights, I'd change em. £150 is nothing compared to losing the holiday (or part of it).
They may be lucky, all the flights could run on time, but thats hardly ever happens when I have connections lol.0 -

In those 3 hours his wife could explain how this DIY travelling works:D
What day are they travelling? The connection to the tube is very easy at Kings X and once you're on the tube you don't get off until LHR.
(Unless there's rail works).I'll see them on Christmas day, and.......................I'll make some comment
Are you going to video it:D:D0 -
