  • Morning all! :santa2: Happy Birthday wishes to forever skint :bdaycake: and hugs to tiredmum :grouphug: that's such sad news at Christmas.

It's a beautiful day here today, the frost has all but disappeared and the sun is shining. DS arrived home safely on Friday night and he and I decorated our tree yesterday afternoon, looks fab if I do say so myself :rotfl: I also decorated our fireplace with greenery from the garden, silver baubles and a crystal icicle garland I bought in Germany the other weekend, looks very icy and festive I think.

Today I'm waiting for the arrival of DD22 who's driving home from northern parts, fingers crossed that her journey goes well, and I'm going to make some gingerbread shapes and lebkuchen for the tree and for [STRIKE]my[/STRIKE] our tummies and for presents for my friends. Later on I'm singing at the Nine Lessons and Carols service at one of the village churches, so it's all feeling very festive here and I'm REALLY EXCITED NOW :snow_laug

    Have a great day everyone!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOREVERSKINT

:grouphug: to all who feel ill/down and anyone who wants one

Exciting day today - I'm going iceskating at the Natural History Museum open air ice rink this evening! Can't wait! :j

  • :bdaycake: Happy birthday Foreverskint, have a good one

Having big problems with our internet connection. It keeps going off - v. annoying - am typing v. fast ;)

Have a chicken roasting in the oven for lunch, might make a pud, but maybe not. Must crack on with my Christmas baking - florentines and mince pies. Might sample the damson gin later or at least bottle it.

Not sure if OH is going back to work tomorrow -he seems to think he can drive, but I think that would be stupid with a broken collarbone, and now that he's discovered he can wash up one-handed I don't mind having him around so much:D

Have bought our tree and located the decorations. Will probably put it up on Wednesday after school finishes. Have written my cards, will post them tomorrow. Have to collect goose and ham from butcher's on Saturday, so all ready for the feast now.

Tuesday wil be the anniversary of my first post on this forum:D i can't believe I've been waffling on for a whole year  I used to get so much more done before I discovered you all :rotfl:

Anyway if i don't manage to get on again before Christmas have a good one all:xmastree:

Morning All - hope we are well

Lovely sunshine here again today (makes a change)

Catowen I missed it also - hope someone knows the winner
    Happy Birthday foerverskint

Me & OH went to Meadowhall last night to the pictures. We ended up watching "Black Christmas". It was ok. Not as good as it looked like in the previews.

Think most of us are having disturbed sleep - I too didn't sleep too well, OH kept me awake with his snoring. I ended up getting into my DD bed at 3am, then at 5am, I think it was a competition who could snore the loudest between OH & the dog. GGrrrrrrr!

Plenty of washing to get thru today, Ive volunteered OH to tackle the food shopping. I can imagine how busy the supermarket will be, just want to avoid the hussle of shoppers. I hate shopping best of times. Let alone going when its busy this time of year.
    Pork casserole for dinner today.

I will finish my brew, then make a start on sweeping hall/kitchen, then mop it.

    Have a good Sunday everyone
Take care & Love as usual xxx

    Morning everyone :)

    Happy Birthday Foreverskint

Hugs to everyone else that needs them (Tiredmum, Taplady and Joannasmum esp)

I have spent my weekend staring at the bottom of my toilet bowl, I have picked up a bug from somewhere and can't go anywhere or do anything without being sick (sorry if tmi). I haven't eaten since friday apart from some boiled sweets and my diet wasn't supposed to start until after christmas  .

Next door decided to have a party last night. It went on until 2.30am. I could hear every song being played including the lyrics, I was almost in tears by the end as I was feeling like poo. They let us know beforehand but said it would be a quiet work do....7 hours later the limbo was being performed in the living room (yes we could hear it) along with Grease Lightening. We didn't want to be the killjoys that spoilt the work christmas party by getting them to turn the music down but if I see the lady I am going to say something, they are new neighbours. We have 6 students on the other side and they are as quiet as church mice.

I watched the X Factor last night too and was pleased Leona won, although it seemed Simon Cowell was doing everything in his power to ensure she did so not unexpected.

I can't really do much osing today. I think my best effort might be writing the christmas cards and helping ds write his as he finishes school tomorrow.

Have a good day everyone and Joannasmum, you have been in my thoughts :)

Morning all, and happy birthday Forverskint :) been up since 6am but feel unwell today, I've set myself a jobs list hour by hour, with set time for each job, and unfortunately about an hour behind already, oops, bt I have done a few extra things like put tea in slow cooker to save fuss later :) Charity shops going to do well out of this clear out, I have about 6 sacks already!

Made some flapjack late last night which has gone a bit too crumbly, don't know where I went wrong as did it the same as last time, but my sons enjoying the bits that have fell off.

Gingin sorry to hear you've been kept up, I used to have similar neighbours but the ones next door now are a retired couple and very quiet, only noise is Sundays when the whole family come round for dinner and I can hear the little grandchildren running about. Saying that they can be EXTREMELY nosey neighbours which can be just as annoying, he taps on my window with a stick to get me to ome out as he wants to gossip!
One day I might be more organised...........

Catowen I watched it! The tiger won :) (which I voted for). It was between the tiger, the panda and the mountain gorilla. They said half the prize money would go to the tiger and the other half would be divided between the other 7.Here is the website.

Hoping to be productive today. My list:
    - Clean and tidy flat
    - Finish writing Xmas cards (including letter to some of OHs relatives)
    - Wrap some more presents
    - Ironing
    - OH should probably start his essay

    Have a good day x

Happy Birthday Foreverskint:bdaycake: Hope you have a wonderful day.
It seems rather cold here today although the early frost has gone.
I think everything is ready for Xmas here ( I hope). I haven't been out & done any shopping it has all been done on the web (which is easier in some ways but it means I don't get to see the atmosphere in the shops  ) Had some good news last night when OH came home from work he has got 3 Days off for Xmas this is the longest he's had in the 20 years we have been together (perils of him being a nurse). The longest he's had before is either Xmas day or Boxing day. But he will be working all of New Year ( but fortunately not nights this time) Sorry this is rambling a bit but brain is not too good today ( all the above from notes in diary)
Hope everyone enjoys their day & the rest of the build up to Xmas.
When OH gets home from work I will be in the kitchen "helping" him make another Whisky Dundee cake for a friend to say thank you to her for cleaning all of my windows downstairs in & out the other day.
Anyway will sign off now as I feel raher tired & things are not making sense at the mo :rudolf: :snow_laug :xmastree:
Love to save & love a bargain
