well my efforts to finish the christmas shopping failed. took DS shopping with me and we spent two hours shopping for his girlfriend's present. have to say enjoyed spending time with him. not something we do often as he usually has better things to do ;) got a few bits but the queues at the tills put me off too. so will finish it on wednesday on my day off.
managed to get a tree (fake one) in B&Q's half price sale. they had lots of christmas decorations and lights all half price if anyone is interested. The tree is 6ft tall...a big bigger than I planned but it looks really good. wondering though if I should nip back and buy some extra baubles. waiting to see what it looks like in daylight if you know what I mean.

today must write christmas cards and will visit relatives this afternoon. must remember to fill car before we set off - the petrol light came on last night but I didnt have any cash with me.

best wishes to everyone who's not feeling well and especially joannasmum.

    Hello everyone,

Poured rain here last night & showers this morning. Went over and spent the morning with DGS. It was his playgroup breakup and Father Christmas arrived in his fire engine. He cried. :D But cheered up when he was given his gift which was a fire engine. :D He was pushed over by a much larger child, and when he got up, pushed him right back. Then when the child was on the floor, reached down and pinched him. :o

Came home around 2pm and been at the house building our kitchen with DH. Going back shortly after tea. Off to the mainland tomorrow to get another load. Surprise!! :p You seem to holding on in the cricket today. Tea break atm but back on in a min. We put our tree up tonight as well. Well off to eat tea. Have a great Sunday. Byeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Hi everyone :santa2:

Don't know why I'm up so early when DS and DD stayed with XDH last night. This is my one chance to laze in bed and here I am posting on the MSE site. I think I may make some toast and tea and go back to bed when I am finished here.

    Foreverskint Happy Birthday!

PenPen DS's scones sound delicious. I have never mastered scones either. He must be a natural. ;)

DD cleared out her bedroom yesterday to make room for this year's Christmas presents so I now have one load that has to go to the dump (incomplete or broken toys and games mostly) and another load that will go to the charity shop. I wish she had done it sooner so that maybe someone could have had the benefit of the charity shop toys but you never know.

dogrose I went to B&Q yesterday to get that sticky tape stuff that Anthea Turner used to hang the Christmas cards. Ended up spending £15 in their half price sale! I can't even say that I *had* to get the stuff I did, I just liked them. Then I went to Homebase to get some garland hangers for the door. They had none left but I spent another £7! I really must stop going into shops. I really, really must.

Off to mass this morning. Our diocese had a big reorganisation last year and we now share our priest with another parish. It is a pity because there is less of a community spirit now. I'm hoping that Christmas Day mass will be later than in previous years as we always seemed to be running at the last minute. Our church is stunning at any time of year, but it is in a league of its own at Christmas time. I could sit quite happily for hours just taking it all in.

Anyway, off to scoff my tea and toast. Have a great Sunday everyone. X

Lovely bright clear cold morning, nice and toasty inside, but if the sun stays out will go for a walk with OH later.

Put some stuff on freecycle yesterday TV stand, video and DVD..... someone is coming to collect this morning, so cannot go out until they have been....glad to get rid of them, have had them for quite a while, never use them, we have a DVD player on the kitchen TV and both computers have DVD drives, so surplus to requirements. Have also outed a load of old videos and tapes, mostly cheap freebies........

Nothing planned for today except pork chops for supper tonight, will get everything ready for cooking later, can set the combi to switch on and do the chops, just need to make sure the roasties are ready to go in at the right time.

At my friends yesterday for an hour, came away with pressies for both os us, very nice..........she is off down to her family for the holiday so will not see her until the new year.

Right its time for a:coffee: and then finish clearing up in the sitting room after yesterdays clear out............................

Morning all. Today I need to do a daily tidy. We're trying to keep the house relatively tidy, so we don't have to do a big blitz on Xmas eve (we both work in a shop, so we're working every day now, and finish at 5ish on Xmas eve!).

DD and DS both have colds, so they're chilling in front of the telly, so it's easier for me to get around with no-one under my feet. Only have until 3 then I'm at work till 9pm, so will try to fit in a bit of 'me' time later.

Hope you all have a good Sunday,
    soba.
