Quick question for all your hot sexy people. LOL.

I tried doing an electrical visit for a computer on last weekend. Went in, browsed, saw 2 mos, 1 in computer section with customer, 1 fannying about. After 5 minutes, I approach the 1 fannying about. He rudely tells me he is manning the tvs and that I should wait for the mos in computer section. Mos in computers now busy filling online form with customers as has sold a laptop. Browse and wander around the store for a further 20 minutes. Mos in computers still filling form in. I abandon visit. Waiting half an hour should be enough.

Should I get paid something for attempting the above visit or am I at fault for not waiting another hour? Please advise.

Depends on the company -some will ask you to re-shop -some will pay the fee for the aborted visit too -some won't. Really best thing is to ring and explain -If asked to reshop ask if they are paying a fee for the first visit too before accepting.

It was for RE and the (insert various rude words here) allocator says I cannot be paid anything because I did not approach a mos and that I should have waited until one became available. What did he expect me to do? File my nails? Take my vajazzling kit with me and vajazzle customers until the mos became free? Hmmm. Do I ask to speak to an RE manager (that will probably get me nowhere!)? I know with GR they specify how long you must wait, and with TNS it says if you do not get assisted within x number of minutes, abandon this section.

PS. I don't actually have a vajazzling kit! LOL.

They are a wierd firm. They will pay you full whack for a closed shop but are funny about this.
I wonder if the client would prefer an actual accout of the visit or the spoon fed nonsense some firms insist on.

No way, I did a computer game shop last week, and the store had shut down, moved to another part of town. Cow pat allocator said I would be paid half the fee once this has been confirmed by the client. Hmmm. Unfair!

Would of thought your comments would have been fine, only where the brief wants you to check a specific demonstrator would I expect 'excessive fannying about' to be required, but as a real customer being told to 'go away' by one member of staff would have me immediately going away to another retailer, so Iw ould have thought it was highly appropriate.

RE have rules unto themselves, I remember an electrical visit to TNS where I was told that I wouldn't be paid because I hadn't followed the brief, I wrote a stroppy note back saying that I couldn't follow the brief because of X, Y, Z (more to relieve my frustration than anything) and was surprised when they 'reversed' their original thinking and said they would pay me....

Not sure that such clear thinking is possible for RE however!

I once went to an RE betting shop that actually hadn't opened yet and got the full fee - and for some reason it was higher than normal too! Happy days :D

That's very bad though, a time limit to wait should be set on these thing, and you did actually approach a MOS, it's hardly your fault they didn't help you!

Yup, I did a store that was closed on sundays and got the full amount.
