Hi put a question on friend been offered mystery shop work for media / telephone /bb companies doing packages in retail places around the area. Anyone done anything like this? she thinks might take lots of paperwork and memory.

Yes there is paperwork and it involves using your memory. The company who do these should have given her a log in to their website where she can read the brief and paperwork before she goes.

She will have to remember the questions she needs to ask the rep, plus the responses given, what products were discussed and the final recommendation as this will all need to written in the report, along with general comments about the reps attitude etc.
Here I go again on my own....
  • I can’t believe that all those “home stores” that used to be with GFK have been picked up in my area from RE. Why do people bother for such a small fee!
I am glad that the “glasses” ones seem to be sticking on there as the amount of work involved for the fee is stupid. They keep getting taken and then dropped in my area once people realise what’s actually involved.

yep fell into this trap the other day had to take the shredder for a coffee.

I chose the Shredder because I thought it would be the easiest to handle. I was surprised how large and heavy it was!

I wish they would give us smaller things to buy and return :)

It seemed such a shame taking it back!

  • I can't believe I'm looking at the same phone shop company on two different job boards and one has a fair price on it and the other MS company has it on for just over half that price. Guess where my local one is being offered? Yes, the discount company. Not sure how much more I can say without giving away too much. Does that mean the other company maybe trialling them if they only have some of them on? Hopefully the trial will fail.

In response to the message the other day about rating companies: I would NEVER recommend that anyone work for IMS. I fell ill during one of their bank merchandising jobs (which, by the way, takes much longer than indicated on their web site) and called to cancel. I had to speak to their manager, Andy, who frankly was one of the most vile individuals I've ever had the misfortune to come into contact with. He was a patronising bully who threatened to cancel my contract and charge me for the other calls which needed to be cancelled. Almost in tears from how I was being spoken to, I agreed to complete the call I was doing, with the reassurance that I would be paid for the extra length of time it would take me to finish the call.

He said to send an email explaining this, and I did, receiving a response that I would only be paid the maximum as per the brief and to call Andy if I had any queries. I did and immediately he tried to turn it back on me in the most demeaning manner, telling me how many jobs I had completed and cancelled (under-exaggerating and exaggerating these numbers respectively). I did what I should have done on Friday but was too poorly to think straight; told him I would not accept being spoken to like that and if that's the attitude that he (and by default, the company) has towards his shoppers/merchandisers then I will not work for them again. Absolutely appalling manner, I don't deserve it, nor does anyone else who works for them.
