I don't know why people make such a deal about it. I sometimes thank when a post has been useful to me (if I remember, I don't always), and I don't thank a post that's of no use to me , such as an alert for a company I don't work for. Otherwise everyone would be thanking every post and that would surely defeat the object?

I couldn't tell you what my "Thanks" rating is, have no idea, and I'm not at all bothered!! So PLEASE don't thank this post, LOL!!!

sorry i had to thank your post, as it saved me having to type pretty much all of it ;):money:

  • I thank because I appreciate people taking the little time to post on the alerts thread in the hope that others may get some work from it. (regardless of how useful it is, as the poster obviously doesn't have a clue who everyone is signed up with)

I just think it's polite. Like I said before. not really the content of the post, it's the fact they took the time to do it :D

I just look and find it odd that some posts get lots and others few. obviously now i know why, didn't think of it in terms of people pressing thanks dependent on the content)
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

Wasn't going to join the "Thanks" debate, but two points spring to mind:

The number of "thanks" that an Alert gets is an indication of how useful it was, and also an indication of who does what jobs. I have had useful assistance by PMing an individual who thanked for an alerted job that I was also interested in.

The number of "Thanks" for the first posts over the last 20 Threads would surely add up to a very thankful audience.

I "Thank" for things that have helped me personally, for posts I find amusing, and sometimes out of devilment to wind people up!

I would also like to add my personal "Thanks" to Tractorgirl 'cos she is just lovely ! and Misssarahleigh 'cos her heart's in the right place.
  • It’s "challenged" because you don’t sign in or introduce yourself you simply get on with it. If you sign in and tell them what you’re going to do they would have time to “change” the outcome as it would only take a couple of minutes.

This happened to me when I did one of these overt audits.
As I was walking along the 50+ tills, I observed some staff members taking an interest in me, but I wasn't challenged.
When I reached the end, I walked back towards the start again to double check something and there was a sudden surge of managers. About 6 of them came running to the tills and had a little meeting, before 4 of them jumped on to tills and the others began acting as packers. It was hilarious. It was too late as I had finished the audit, but it gave me a laugh and you could see the customers wonder what was going on.
