    Morning all:)

Well haven't i had an exciting few days away!

She is finally here, not the little boy i was expecting but a gorgeous little girl.

    Ruby Erin, born at 21.49 7/9/11 weighing 8lb 14oz

Sorry, not been able to update you guys until now it all got a bit hectic round here.

I went into labour fine, after my show, went to the hospital when contractions were 4 mins apart on Wednesday at 1am, got told i was only 2 cm and they sent me home, managed another 5 hours until i could handle it no longer and went back in to be told i was 5 cm, 'Great' thinks i. We got the water birthing room we wanted and settled ourselves in with the relaxation CD's, Tens machine and water pool..... that's where the birthing plan got thrown out of the window...Little did i know at the time but it was all going to change.

I was left alone by the MW's to progress from 6am at 5 cm, then by 12pm when i was still able to manage the pain quite happily on Tens and breathing a bit of G and A, they then said i wasn't progressing, baby wasn't moving down and they wanted to monitor more closely so i had to move to another room, then everything changed from the birth plan, which basically consisted of keeping everything calm, quiet, and intervention free to me being rushed into theatre with hubby by my side, i was on epidural, spinal block, catheter, they had to do an emergency c section to get baby out fast, i lost 900ml of blood and everything got a bit scary.

Ended up birthing Ruby at 21.49 and then being moved to a ward. I have to say i have never been so scared in all my life, all i kept saying was is she ok, because that was all that mattered. Once on the ward i had a really good cry and the MW who was on was brilliant. That first night was one of the scariest of my whole life.

I was having problems feeding her, still am but now we have a plan of action. They only discharged me yesterday because of the blood loss, iron levels and the feeding problems, we are now home though and you know what...

...None of it went to plan, don't get me wrong i love a good plan...but it didn't happen, and although i feel quite cheated and am still angry we didn't get the birth and feeding we wanted, we have a gorgeous baby girl who is so contented and good that we are very very lucky and stuff the plan, sometimes you just have to go with it.

So, Welcome to the world Ruby Erin, and to the world, look out because my baby is going to do great things!

    xxx

Twinkle.. Stop it.. right now... back-to-back babies are fine.. stay as upright as you can or on all fours and they slither out quite nicely.. my speedy one was 16.5 hours from pains getting going... I didnt even push he just got himself out with less effort than a sneeze.. And he had an arm by his head like superman.

eco.. congratulations.. I was told DD1 was a boy.. 3 times! She isnt! Lovely surprise though :D

I am in so much pain today I am incapable of anything except crying.. I think I may need this thing out right now!

  • Congrats Ecolle, sorry labour wasn't as you wanted but as you say main thing is a healthy little girl.
Am curious, had you been told you were expecting a boy or did you just have a feeling?
  • Congrats Ecoelle :)

  • congratulations Ecoelle, and welcome to the world baby Ruby :)
thanks all for the replies, feeling abit more alive and with it now, sleep depravation sure does make your mind work overtime, i just think too much about the what if's and the worst case senarios, you cant help it tho can you, so far this baby has been as stubborn as hell (like her mother :)) i just dont like not having control of the situation with my daughter, it's not as easy as just dropping her off with a friend or relative, damn Diabetes!
i am hoping she'll turn in labour, i am hoping that as she's my 3rd and ive had very easy labours before, this one wont be long and drawn out, and i am hoping to be home as soon as possible afterwards but we'll see. i know i can give birth to big babies and i know i should get off google cos it does me no favours, lol.
    Skint, but happy (ish):p

Congrats to FG and ecoelle! I too would like to know if you were told boy or was it just your gut feeling?! I've been told boy twice and that's what I'm expecting to have as I've got 2 boys already!

HOpe she comes soon for you Twinkle - it's horrible being overdue. Mine 2 were nearly 2 weeks overdue and it's not fair!
Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!

Congrats Ecoelle! I have a niece named Ruby....its a lovely name.
  • Congratulations Ecoelle, Ruby is a beautiful name.

I noticed someone asking about button up nighties, Asda have a few, including a lovely pink Minnie Mouse one and 2 checked pattern ones. (sorry I can't post link, I'm on iPad and don't know how to copy links)

Day on my own today, so making lists of everything baby wise that we have/haven't got. Don't think we've got that much more to get now which I'm happy about.

2 more sleeps till next scan woo :)

    Xxx
