Why would you deny your unborn child a consultant appointment that could be potentially important just because you are too stubborn to go??? Sometimes PP I dont understand you. You are on these forums practically 24/7 bumping and moaning about how terrible your pregnancy is and how your kidneys are killing you and are ready for failure like the last pregnancy, and that you are in so much pain with your SPD that you cant move (although you are managing to decorate your house!) To be honest I think that you overexaggerate to try and either get sympathy or just for something to say. It's not helpful to the ladies on this thread that require serious advice and would probably jump at the chance to see a consultant to discuss there concerns.

Then they can go.. I didnt say they couldnt. In fact I have been known to suggest people do go and discuss stuff with their practitioners.. shocking though that is..

I have nothing to discuss with a consultant and even less to discuss with the GP.. therefore I do not clutter up appointments and allow others who may feel the need to go or who are actually unwell the slot.. it takes weeks to get an appointment at my GP surgery I wouldnt deny someone who might need one by going when there is nothing they can help with.. unless they are going to come look after my children and clean.. which I doubt they would.

As for decorating.. I slopped some gloss about, and emulsioned the edges and did a bit of rollering.. it is hardly over exerting oneself is it.. and if I didnt do it who would? You? the children? The cats? We arent all rich enough to pay people to do all the work.

Yes it hurts.. no I dont want to do it.. but needs must... and I think you will find I am not the only one with decorating going on, moving house, sorting and moving stuff.. and Im not the only one in pain with it but getting on and doing it all the same.

And hell yes I am going to offload here.. I dont actually have anyone else to moan at.. if you dont want to read it fine, I dont actually give a flying fig.. but I WILL offload somewhere and here is as good a place as any.

  • Is my consultant likely to be a Gyne and Obs consultant?

I am that sad I am googling him to see what he's like before we get there. I think all consultants should have pictures of themselves on a dedicated website so you can see if they look like nice friendly jolly fellows or bullys. (Not that I like to judge a book by its cover!)

  • Also - if you have a c-section, what are the stitches like? Does it have a dressing? Does the dresssing need changing? Does it stop you showering?
Thanks - I appreciate I could google for this but don't want to be too scared!

  • I have a quick question ladies - my midwife has been asking me if I have any pain in the top of my bump, directly under my ribs. I haven't had up until today. Feels a bit like a stabbing stitch sharp pain. Is it something to worry about?

The stitches vary by hospital.. some just have dissolving ones you ignore.. some have some which need to be taken out.. sometimes with a bead thing on the end.. sometimes they use staples which need to be removed too.

It has a huge dressing which goes from hip bone to hip bone and is usually about 4-5 inches deep and doesnt get changed

And it does not stop you showering.. in fact they usually tell you to take off the dressing in the shower after 24 hours anyway.. fast is the way to do it.. and from side to side rather than top to bottom.... and.. no flinching!!

Pain at the top of the bump can sometimes.. but not often.. be related to pre-eclampsia.. but is more often just feet dancing on your muscles/diaphragm/stomach and general stretching.. 99% of the time it is nothing to worry about..but obviously.. if you are concerned ring and ask! esp. if you have other symptoms.
