supermaiden definately get help your midwife or hospital should be able to get help for you. .

Actually... no they can't! They have far too little training to help. MW's have about an hours training during their initial training which comprises of the mechanics and lasts an hour or an hour and a half.. they have no idea about positioning etc.. granted some have personal experience but so has a friend!

Contact the breastfeeding peer supporters at your surestart OR a breastfeeding counsellor at NCT or wherever.. they are specifically trained to help. if you have a lactation consultant nearby they are very good too.. :D

sorry didnt think about it being different in different areas :o. ours does they have specialist breastfeeding counsellors that either the hospital or local midwife can contact for you (i know as my cousin is training to be one :D) and i just assumed all hospitals did now. the more i read on here the more i realise how good the care in our area is i thought it was bad :o. i have been told all i need to do is contact my midwife group or the ward at the hospital.

regarding the formula questions people were talking about at my anti natal classes at the hospital we were told it was a cost issue pre made bottles can only be kept for i think it was an hr after being opened and newborns tend to drink tiny amounts or refuse it at first so lots of full or almost full bottles were being discarded so they now ask you to bring your own. i would check with hospital aswell because im sure they said they prefer pre made rather than powder formula but again that might just be our hospital and in fairness i wasnt really concentrating as im intending to BF and baby was using my blader as a trampoleen at the time :D.

we are going to see harry potter tonight OH has decided we better not wait incase we miss it :rotfl:im expecting it to be absolutely packed so im going to have to find a seat where no one needs to get past me.

hope everyone is well and labour vibes to anyone who needs/wants them :)

    Morning all!

Nothing much to report here, had a few twinges on Friday and got a bit excited but it's trailed off to nothing again now!

Hope everyone is well, I did read back but my brain has turned to mush so can't remember what I've read!

Hugs and labour vibes to those who want them!

    Afternoon all.

BCS bet you are really looking forward to it now :) Hope you have had a relaxing weekend :)

PP OH and i have been channelling your energy and have started looking at kitchen tiles/ovens/sinks/kitchen work tops in preperation for our next project.

Apricot - sorry you were dissapointed, hope your little princess arrives soon :)

Hey to all newbies and labour vibes to the boldies :) and sorry to anyone i havent mentioned lol.

Thanks for the advice on the bra extenders, i have ordered some from ebay :)

32 weeks today and have noticed my feet are aching a lot more and are a little swollen but have been putting them up and they seem a little better. got on the scales this morning - big mistake, 3 stone 5 lbs gained - OH says he cant see where other than my bump bless him :)

Bought a few more baby bits todays, some nice bits in the mothercare sale but we are really slowing down with buying stuff now as we are almost 100% ready for Elvis to arrive when they are fully cooked.

Hope everyone is off enjoying sunday and thats why its quiet :)

Thanks for the info re: breastfeeding.
I have a home care worker coming out this week to see if she can help, although she already said she doesnt see what she can do as I couldnt get it in the hospital :( doesnt fill me with hope! Also my midwife said that he may have got used to the teat now so might not go on the breast. Im hoping one day he will just go on! I just think right now my mummy bits are just too big for his little wee mouth, if that is even possible lol but thats how it seems to me. Ive tried shaping the breast, different positions, expressing some milk first so he can taste it but nothing has helped.

Had a bad night with little man last night. Was up most of the night with him vomiting lots. I dont know what the problem was but he seems to be ok today. He was pulling his legs up so possibly some tummy trouble. Im just keeping an eye on him now and hoping its gone. We were around a cousin of mine who had a bad tummy earlier in the day and I dont know if she passed it on as she kept touching his hands etc or if it was his milk had gone bad but the bag it was in is supposed to keep it the same temp as when its put in there so not sure. So a very tired baby and mummy and daddy today!

    Hello everyone,

Sorry not been on much... but for good reason... queue jumped! Sorry Apricot and other ladies who i was buddying with...

Aidan James arrived on the 12th July at 4.20am, weighing 2.8kg, 6.3lb

The need to pee every 10 mins and my lower back pain were too much so I drove myself to hospital on Monday afternoon because I wanted to get it checked out. After monitoring and doing an internal assessment they said there was a possibility I had had amniotic fluid / waters break as they could see some pooling of fluid. Plus they saw evidence of small contractions which I hadn't properly felt yet! Therefore they mentioned it was safer to induce me rather than risk infection and induced me that night at 9pm. I will write something up soon as there were some complications and we only got home yesterday afternoon but am home at last now.

    My 3 top tips:

    - Eat well/nutritiously at the hospital before labour properly sets in - you will need all the energy you can get
    - Have your food batch cooked and in the freezer ready at home as it's been a life saver
    - Have lots of snacks that you can eat one handed like cereal bars, biscuits, bananas at hospital and for home

I want to put a Flickr pic up but it won't display - chose medium size, copied hyperlink, then used the image thumbnail on here but won't work?

Thanks both - he would have stayed in I think but then again I don't know, they said I was contracting so who knows... 12 days isn't too bad and he is soooo gorgeous I got to get mummy cuddles earlier!
PS: Lucy - I love your sig, couldn't agree with you more that MJ went too soon and guess what music Sweetpea listened to in the womb!
