Has anyone spoken to trading standards over this?I truly hope Hamleys get a heavy fine for their incompetent dealings.
  • What do you think about Hamleys own Web Terms and Conditions which state

    "1. Orders and Dispatch
Your order represents an offer to us to purchase a product. Once you have completed an online purchase, if we are able to accept your order, we will send you an email confirming receipt of your order and the order details. At that point a binding agreement between us will exist. In certain circumstances, as those explained in paragraphs 8 and 10 below, it will be possible for either you or us to cancel the order"

As far as I can see paragraphs 8 & 10 say nothing about cancelling orders due to price or website errors.

I recieved (as many of you) the "acceptance of offer" email so does this constitute "a binding offer" and should Hamleys honour the deal?

Hamley's are calling it "Fraudulent Site Activity" when it comes to their affiliates:
    Dear Affiliates,

Due to a technical problem on the Hamleys website this weekend we have experienced some fraudulent voucher code use. As a result we have had to cancel some transactions made over a 24hour period. This may have resulted in some of your commissions being declined.
We ask all our affiliates to only publish voucher codes which have been approved and issued directly to them by Hamleys or Affiliate Window. Failure to do so may mean that customers inadvertently use these codes in breach of their terms and conditions. This will result in their order being cancelled. This is disappointing to customers and reflects badly on both Hamleys and yourselves.

If you have any questions regarding this incident, or in general about the Hamleys programme, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

    Kind Regards,

I think that somewhere in there t&cs will also be conditions for using discount codes, everyone who ordered knew that the codes should not have been used together for one order. The codes were also only for particular customers. You can't really grumble about using codes that you were't supposed toand I don't think you'd have a leg to stand on legally. I didn't bother with this offer as I didn't expect it to work, but I have used other discounts for other retailers that I shouldn't have and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Really need to let this one go.

Any time a loophole is found just treat it as a bit of fun. If the stuff arrives then great, brag about it to everyone. If it gets spotted and cancelled then fine, it was worth a punt. Then move on to the next one.
It's not the taking part but the winning that counts.
