apparently my cervix and neck of the womb dont 'look right'!!!!..... i had it cauterised 4 yrs or so ago so am being optimistic that it will be a similar thing... my smears are usually inconclusive for some reason

I remember during my first biopsy noticing out of the corner of my eye a tv screen and honestly thinking they must have Richard and Judy on or something to keep people occupied. I got a HUGE shock when I turned my head to look at it!

I had this, but they offered me the choice of whether to do anything about it, so I said no, mainly cos I wanted to think about it first!

Anyone else had just a biopsy done? How long did you find it took for the bleeding to stop?

I had a cervical biopsy last year for grade 2 pre-cancer and I had heavy bleeding for about 2 weeks then spotting for about another 2 weeks.
  • i had mine for a dodgy smear...they took out the 'abnormality' so prob why my bleeding was quite heavy and prolonged.

    Thanks :)

As I say, I'm fairly sure it's fine, but you don't want to count your chickens before they're hatched :D

I was diagnosed with an erosion when I was pregnant and decided after giving birth and a clear smear/colposcopy a couple of years later not to have treatment as I had stopped bleeding. About 3 years ago it flared up again and I was bleeding in between periods and also during and after doing the do :( During my regular smear I bled and ended up going for another colposcopy and this time I had abnormal cells as well as the erosion. The Colposcopy clinic weren’t that bothered about the abnormal smears and said usually they’d leave them but as I was bleeding nearly every time I got cosy with my other half I decided to have treatment. The treatment was cold coagulation (freezing of the cervix) and I swear I didn’t feel a thing. Felt a bit dizzy afterwards but think that was the adrenaline as I am a very nervous person. My sister came with me and we had a cup of tea and I drove us back. I did have 2 paracetamol before I went as usually get bad period pains and had those after my biopsies so they must’ve helped. Didn’t have any cramping later though or any bleeding as such, just a clear discharge for a couple of days. Good luck :)
  • I had it done in sep 04 but I was put to sleep, he did try when I was awake but decided the area was to big to use the soldering iron on and needed to cut it instead. I had no probs after, just slight bleeding and a bit of cramp, have to have smears every six months now to keep a check. The things us women have to go through!! Good luck.
