    Hi ac,

i had surgery on one 10 years ago. It caused spotting during sex and caused me a bit of hastle with 'breakthrough bleeding' when i was pregnant with my son.

It was a straightforward and simple operation (so the consultant told me) so to make it a little harder i asked him to sterilize me at the same time.:D

I wasnt out of action at all, except sex wasnt on the cards for medical reasons for a few weeks. I had a bit of minor bleeding after but that was it.

I was refered after i gave birth and had to wait 4 months before i got a date.

  • I had this procedure done about 5 years ago, no problems at all, didn't feel a thing, I just took it easy for the rest of the day and was fine. Can't honestly remember how long I had to wait to be referred.

I'm sure everything will go well, good luck.

i have had this done some years ago as well....my cervix was cauterised for the same reasons as judi and it really didnt hurt at all u dont feel it ,, well i didnt

the only thing was they used a camera at the same time and i could see the screen didnt like that much lol

they are aware u are nervous tho and one nurse held my hand throughout which i found very reassuring so mention yr nerves to them

i dont remember how long i had to wait but i dont think it was very long

    good luck

  • I had this done about 20 years ago. It wasn't the most comfortable thing I've ever had done, but it wasn't too bad at all. No pain releif was offered, but I suppose if I'd taken a couple of ibuprofen beforehand I would have felt less. This was in the mid 80s so things will have changed since then.

It felt as though I was being poked with a blunt needle. There was a little bit of bleeding afterwards (had to wear a pad for the rest of the day). After a cup of tea I got dressed and walked to work. So I wasn't out of action at all.

Can't remeber how long I was 'off games' for or how long the waiting list was.

    Good luck :D

I had this done in June this year but had a general anaesthetic (I was having other things done at the same time).

I had no problems afterwards, you don't feel anything at all. I don't know about bleeding as my other procedures produced this anyway.

A cervical erosion is the old name for what is called an ectropian these days. ( same thing, different name, so if you encounter the name ectropian, its not a different problem). It basically is where the cervix has stretched during childbirth and it becomes a bit inflammed and raw.It may cause some bleeding, but usually doesn't cause any problems at all. It is not suspicious, does not lead to any other conditions and most women do not realize they have it.You have it cauterised, not quarterised. Cautery means sealing the raw area with heat or freezing it. It is not painful because the cervix has no nerve endings but you may feel a bit of tugging & pulling. You may have a discharge for a while after. You will be able to drive as long as you are not of a nervous disposition and you feel any sort of treatment will make you feel quesy.
    Good luck.
