    I think I have it.
Because I am in the Support Group, I can work for up to 16 hours a week, collect a wage (profit) of no more than £95 per week and can carry this on for as long as I want.

    No, you can't.
This is permitted work, higher level.
You can only do this for one year.

    I think you are wrong.
    The link above says this:
Permitted work higher limit (unlimited period)
People can undertake the higher limit described above but without any time limit, if:
    • They get Employment and Support Allowance with a Support component

    Apologies - missed this somehow.
The rules as to what might happen under universal credit are somewhat unclear, unfortunately.

In theory yes, but everything would be registered and the work would be carried out by my wife.

If everyone looked at it that way, you would never get people back to work!

That is why Permitted Work, I think it is called, is there to help.
Course you would get people back to work. Threaten to take away the benefits from those able to work and they would soon shift their backsides

Would that include all of those in the Support Group of ESA, like I am?

How would you define 'those able to work'?
I thought that was what ATOS were paid to do? Maybe ATOS are too easy on benefit claimants then.

I really would love you to tell me how YOU would determine that those able to work should - even if the DWP's own medical assessors say they are unfit for work now at best, and at worst, ever likely to work again.

If you could tell who these people are then you could be saving the state £millions in fees being paid to ATOS!

Well thanks everyone for giving your help, and some that didn't!

As I see it and to keep legal, and avoid any question of my being better and possibly losing the ESA, it is best if everything is registered to my wife and that she does all of the work apart from my verbal input that I would give her. That could not be construed as work for my ESA claim, as there would be no evidence whatsoever of the online research I would carry out under her internet account or the conversations that I would have with my wife at home. My name would not feature on anything, not even the business account.

They certainly don't make it easy for people with illnesses to try and get back into some type of working environment without running the risk of losing benefit.

    What a silly question!

Yes I go under the name of Wottonby which is actually my surname if it is any of your business.

Why do you ask? And what has that got to do with my original question?

Do you normally ask these sort of questions of people on this site? You are very nosey you know!
