    Is there room for another??
I've been slowly running down all my cleaning products and determined not to buy anymore.

Someone mentioned they had a dishwasher receipe - - would you mind sharing? The dishwasher and the washing machine are the two places where I seem to spend loads of money on.

I've already run out of polish and now using microfibre cloths and they are excellent.

May I join? I'm another one with tons of cleaning stuff. What with this and the toiletries challenge, I may have cupboard space for food one day :o. I do make laundry gloop which I find very good but would love to have a dishwasher recipe. I did look for one online but couldn't find one. I unearthed another bottle of window cleaner the other day. I don't use it but MiL kept buying it for me so I'll try to get this bottle used up to gain more space.

Yea its works on the fridge too:D:DOh had run out of leccy and had meat in his freezer and the smell was horrific.A mixture of bicarb, vinegar and lemon sorted the smell out, and he has now managed to freecycle it:j:j
BTW have just seen 5 litres of thin bleach in LIDL for 67p, but I didn't buy it:j:j

    Hello all,

Please let me in. I hate cleaning anyway and over the years have amassed loads of different products allegedly for specific cleaning purposes.

Since joining in on the OS board I have been persuaded that I either use a substitute, like vinegar or stardrops, etc. and various different concoctions, or if the worst comes to the worst, only use a fraction of the usual product. I am in a soft water area and at most only ever use 40gm for a large wash and most of the time much less. The washing is clean, fragrant (particularly after having been on the line for a few hours) and I think a 2kg box of Ariel would last me a year. And working out the maths of that, 50 weeks is about right. I have a spray bottle with a mix of water, stardrops and white vinegar and that seems to do sterling work on most household and bathroom grot. I still have flash and cillit bang , and all the usual tripe under the sink in the kitchen so it's going to be a case of use up what I have and then supplement by more inventive treatments.

I think I would still use dishwasher tablets when drastically reduced in price, and also my one £5 box of Ariel or whatever, after all, is it worth changing that for the sake of 10p per week?

The marketing men have certainly taken their opportunity over the last few years and a whole generation is indoctrinated into thinking that if their clothes don't smell VERY STRONGLY of the latest fabric conditioner, that they are some sort of minging tramps. It is now essential to dry all items of clothing indoors if you are under the age of 30, otherwise, heaven forfend, it might actually smell of fresh air.

OK, call me a cynic, but I'll join in for the long game!

Can I join too? I've been trying to cut back on cleaners, and have managed to use up the bottle of antibac that hubby bought and not get another one. Got a pack of microfibre cloths the other day and I'm really discouraging the use of kitchen roll as well.

Can I join in too? I will carry on buying washing powder though. I have a cupboard full of cleaning products and a box in the shed full of them too - I reckon I can go till the end of the year without buying anything else.
