Quality roasting and baking tins/trays?

  • Mine are half cheap rubbish and half decent-ish (e.g. Cheapest Tescos and Lakeland) as don't do tons of oven cooking generally.

After using one of the cheapo baking trays at the weekend, half the non-stick coating came off on a bread roll at the weekend. Not very good! I have replaced this with a cheap (but looks quite good quality) baking tray from Lidl this afternoon.

I would never pay £130 for any type of cookware. My limit would probably be upgrading everything to Lakeland mid-range. I'd spend more on pans, crockery, etc. but not oven ware as I don't generally bake and I never do roasts.

For roasting tins, black enamel ones from ASDA

For baking, as someone else has said, the thickest non-stick I could get.

I'm afraid I don't like my Le Creuset casserole dish as much as my Judge stuff because it has stained so badly on the inside. It doesn't look very attractive and I can't seem to brown onions in it because they stick. Having said that, my Mum has had hers for about 20 years so they seem to last well

My saucepans are Judge and I love them, might have to look into more from the range.

I'm with the Le Creuset fan club too. I have quite a lot of it, all very old and bought at boot sales so several different colours. Don't have a roasting tin though.

I'd say anything that's good thick enamelled metal - like Patchwork Quilt i'm very pleased with my Asda one.
Oh dear, here we go again.

Just what I was going to say. I have two, had them for years. They are really solid. I'm sure they're no where near as expensive as Le Creuset. I love Le Creuset for casseroles though.

    And i'll [STRIKE]second[/STRIKE] third mermaid tins :)

I've also got a couple of hammered stainless steel (just been to look, no name) which i think I got in one of those professional cookware shops. They are good, have little handles and one has measurements up the side & a lip. Sadly, with the new oven, it doesn't fit in now

Le Creuset actually make a specialist cleaner for just this problem. It's about £5 for a small bottle but you only need a small amount so it lasts for ages. I think it's only some sort of posh varient of Cif cream cleaner though.

  • Tk Max often have bits and pieces of Le Cruedet at reasonable prices.
I was given Stellar pots for a wedding present and they still look as good as new.
I also managed to pick up some Stellar baking trays/roasting tray in TK Max for about £10 each. they have been great.

  • I lust after Mermaid roasting dishes - but would have to be the smaller ones or pie dishes as I don`t use my big oven for just myself and ds. Delia loves them and they can be put on the hob for gravy making.

For anyone wanting a cheaper choice, I have several of the black speckled enamel ones that have lasted for many years. I find cheap non stick ones don`t last as the inner peels off and I don`t fancy eating it.

I have never been tempted by cast iron as I am far too weak and feeble.

Lakeland's tins get my vote every time. I won't buy anything else! And I'm a very keen baker and bake all our own bread so tins get tested well in our house!!
