At our local pool they have many different sessions during the week and weekends, meaning each of my youngest 2 can easily swap to another session or time with the same teacher and the same standard of other kids. Is this possible at your place? Perhaps a simple swap to a weekday evening or after school?Pants0

She comes across as being not very intelligent and also very thick-skinned. I think I will have to work hard to get her to take a hint, lol. I don't think she listens enough to what anyone else says to actually take a hint or get a point.
I am actually looking forward to giving her the brush off this Saturday and sitting there with my head in a book. If she sits with me and starts jabbering on, I'll look at her, smile politely like she's a senile old lady or young child, and carry on reading.....0 -
She sounds absolutely vile. Personally as its pool side Id be tempted to arrive with a huge handbag full of bricks, swing it round a bit carelessly and knock the stupid bint into the pool. What is it they say about people needing to cool off.
Or be more sensible than me. Let her approach you and start talking rubbish again. When she has dug herself a deep enough hole tell her in an assertive 'loud enough' voice that her bitterness and nasty remarks bore you and you dont wish to chat to her again.
I cant tolerate people like that.0 -
Warehouse (I just went to thank you for your post and the thanks icon has disappeared), there is one other day DD could swap her lesson to but she has Rainbows that night, which she enjoys so I'd be reluctant to change it. DD is doing well though, and the teacher has said that she's going to move her up to the next lesson in a few weeks, so hopefully this woman's daughter won't be moved to, and I can get away from her then. The next group is half an hour after the first lesson so I'd only have to see this woman when we get there0

LOL Makemewise, it'd be funny to send her flying into the pool.0

Swimming lessons don't last forever. This time next year you'll have forgotten who she is. Just agree and nod and plan your weeks meals in your head instead of listening to her......0

See this is where being like me is an advantage (i generally don't care about upsetting people if something needs said) - but i understand you'd probably prefer to avoid my f-off solution. (as Billy Connolly says, it's universal and isn't ambiguous and says it perfectly
) If you want to be more pleasant about it i'd say "listen, to be honest you REALLY do my head in - so i'd rather not speak to you" and hope she takes the hint. Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
give her a gentle nudge into the pool when you stand up and be soooooooooooooooo apologetic :A0

Become ever so clumsy & ALWAYS knock your drink over onto her. Apologise profusely every week, of course.

When she starts bigging herself up with something like like that, try saying "Oooh get you!" in a really funny voice. Do this every time she annoys you. She won't know if you're being serious or not but it will make her falter.
I had a work colleague once who used to get really angry and get redder and redder. One day I said to her, "You do worry me, you know. You get so angry and so red that I worry your head's going to explode. Chill out a bit!" I was so scared saying it that I had sweaty palms but thankfully she laughed
