fluffnutter - I had the misfortune of seeing a couple of those "My Super Sweet Sixteen" shows on MTV - one which sticks in my mind is a girl going absolutely mental about how her Mum had "ruined my life" "ruined my party" etc. for giving her her birthday present the day before her party.............it was a brand spanking new BMW. Truly ridiculous.

My favourite was a girl trying on a 20 or 30 thousand pound coat then turning to her parents with a beseeching look. Her dad responded with 'Sure, honey, go ahead. It's your world. We just live in it'. !!!!!!?? What do those parents think they're creating? A monster who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. Shocking.

At my wedding the music system failed completely, and not wanting to walk down in the aisle in silence, I asked the entire congregation to hum the Bridal Chorus for me, which they did. The only problem is that on our video you can hear my brothers singing 'Here comes the bride? all dressed in white, where is the groom? he's in the changing room, why is he there? he had to change his underwear' :rotfl:

I was disappointed to not have the music i wanted, but as Kylie Minogue sang in the 80's, If I had to do it all again, I wouldn't change a single thing.

I'm sorry that there were hiccups at your wedding that have impeded on the enjoyment of your day. They were unfortunate but such is life and I don't suppose any bride and groom's day is perfect. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff. We will all spend a rather long time pushing up daisies so don't dwell on it and instead enjoy being able to call your former fiancee your wife and make the most of, and savour the next chapter in your lives together.

No harm in registering your disappointment at those aspects of the wedding that didn't go to plan but don't let it be all that you remember about your wedding day.

Hahaha, yes I remember that episode! I did wonder how she'd cope when we went to university or started studying for qualifications, but then I remembered that with parents like hers she's probably got it made.

I do think people are being a tad harsh on the OP. But then again, I've never been married. I know in my head, I'd want everything to be perfect, but there are some things I'd draw the line at. I can get the music thing. Certain songs have a big emotional impact on me, so I'd like that to go right, but that's just me. The microphone thing is a little irritating but in the greater scheme of things, it's nothing. Not everyone gets to away abroad to marry, be thankful for that.

Just had a thought reading this thread. Do you think I could sue my wedding planner for letting me go through with it?? :D

Seriously though, sorry you felt that the whole wedding was ruined, here's hoping that some day you can look back on it and have a laugh. Never known a wedding to not have a hiccup or two.

I had flu on my wedding day, it must be someones fault who do I sue???

We didn't have a photographer, a video or anything. I hated the music that we choseto walk into the registry office to because my stubborn OH wanted something "cool" but Driftwood by Travis just makes me want to kill myself. We didn't choose a first dance, we didn't want one but eh cheesy DJ had us up to something random by Lionel Ritchie. The posh hotel we wanted for our wedding night was fully booked so we stayed in a really dodgy travel lodge type place and when we got home out "mates" had removed all the labels from the tins in the cupbaord so for months we didn't know if we were having dog food or spaghetti hoops for tea.

Still one of the best days of my lifex

At my first wedding, the wedding car crashed.

We'd had photo's done at the Church and everyone had left while we had photo's taken with the Rolls Royce, apart from the best man who was going to follow us as he didn't know where the reception hotel was.

We got into the car and I don't know what the driver did, but the car lurched forwards, hit a small wall and ended up in a raised flower bed. The brake cables and fuel pipe were damaged and that was the end of the car.

The driver rang but they had no other available cars, so we had to hitch a lift off the best man in his car. Everyone was outside at the hotel waiting for us to arrive in a posh car, and we pulled up in an old green Astra :o

Two days before the wedding, the Church was broken into and the documents were stolen. We had to get emergency paperwork from the registrars. On the day some of the internal Church doors were smashed in and the glass in the front doors was boarded up. Classy!

The lady who iced the cake used roll out icing and didn't put any supports in the cake tiers so it collapsed. It was a distant relative who did it so I couldn't complain. The cake had to stay in pieces on the table, then they quickly assembled it, took a few photo's of us cutting it, and took it back down again.

My wedding dress arrived days before the wedding after numerous delays, and they'd made a mistake and it was far too big on the bust. The fitted bodice had to be taken off the dress and it needed serious work to make it smaller.

Three months before the wedding, the original bridesmaid dress supplier said they could no longer supply and hire the bridesmaid dresses. Two cousins live miles away, and I had to arrange getting everyone back for measurements and going to another shop who said they could sort it for me.

They double booked us on our honeymoon and told us three weeks before the wedding. We couldn't get anything else departing just after the wedding. Had to change holidays at work, and ended up getting married on the Saturday, going back to work on the Monday for two weeks and then going on honeymoon. They did upgrade us from 3* to 4* star apartments though as compensation.

When we got to a different hotel for our wedding night, there was a really rude woman in reception having an argument with the receptionist. She got angry because he ignored her to check us in and she made abusive and disgusting comments to us.

Pretty much a disaster all round!
Here I go again on my own....
