Wedding ruined, what are our rights

I agree a week is not unreasonable but the rep told us we would at least have a reply in 48 hrs, thats why I thought a week without even acknowledgement was bit off. I do understand that things go wrong and yes we enjoyed the first week, no argument there. The hotel is top class, the service great and the people friendly but if you put yourself in our shoes im sure youd be annoyed too. :-(
Everyone understands that you are annoyed, just that your reaction is a tad extreme. Can you not see the funny side to it at all?Gone ... or have I?0 -
My friend's husband's mother died in a car crash on the way to her wedding. That kind of ruined things."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

I think you are quite right to want to complain about the wedding aspects, but any refund will be appropriate to those services, not the overall two week holiday.
I have seen a few weddings in resorts like this and I always do wonder do people know what they are letting themselves in for - they are often not the idyllic day people think it will be.0 -
I'm fairly sure the 'here comes the bride' tune isn't religious in any way and also if you're vows are your own and you're more than willing to let close friends/relatives hear them then why are you so ashamed of them as to get upset that a few people nearby hear them? As for planning for 2 years, it sounds like the wedding was really planned a few days before it happened out in Mexico - if you'd done your research you would have known that's when most of the arrangements would have been made and therefore the risk of a short planning time.0

Thw wedding planner then held up her index finger to indicate a pre arranged plan and our worst nightmare ensued. "Here comes the bride" was played and my wife ushered down the aisle. We are not church going people, not religious and had we wanted church music played on an organ, we would have had a church wedding. HAd our chosen music been played the moment would have been full of sentiment and emotion, instead we bot have faces of confusion and shock.
I'm not sure that Wagner's Bridal Chorus is particularly religious so not really sure what your problem is.
DMG24 has summed it up perfectly.
You are married, be happy!0 -
Wrong, it's all about the perfect day. If they would have offered us a postponement or reschedule then I guarantee you that would hav been the end of it,its all about the money
Equally too if they will marry us back in the Uk and annull the first marriage we will be happy with that, they can pay all the bills direct and we will not make a single penny. How can that be all about the money.
Dmg, honestly we cant see the funny side of it. My wife up all night crying when we should have been "consumating" was not funny, nor having to phone the doctor when she was having a panic attack.
People may think we are overreacting and thats fine. We are not serial complainers, never been on this part of the forum before so its not alla bout the money, but if they dont offer a remarriage as above what else are we supposed to have in compensation if not money?0 -

!
It'splayed in 90% of church weddings, therefore we see it as religious.0 -

It was played by mistake at my own wedding - I've always loathed it and we chose an alternative. Unfortunatly the organ was playing up just before I arrived, the organist was flustered and launched into it without thinking.
I was annoyed for a moment or two but in the grand scheme of things it didn't really matter and was a good source of amusement afterwards ( all the guests knew how I hated it!). I certainly wasn't going to let it ruin my day.
Never occured to me to ask for compensation.0 -

I just had a vision of some daft Brazilian lothario, singing "White Wedding" at a wedding in Mexico, accompanied by Louis Walsh on a cheesy electric organ. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I wanted Widor's Toccata but the organist didn't have a big enough organ. (ooh err Missus!)
I didn't stay up all night crying about it though."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
