i never said ALL retailers a said A LOT of retailers. M & S now block new signups using free email accounts due to their recent email hack they suffered.

No, you said M&S block ALL free email addresses.

Which they obviously don't!

Would you like to borrow my shovel to dig yourself a deeper hole?

An online retailer looking to maximise sales will not reject email addresses such as gmail/yahoo/hotmail - the loss of subscribers could be very detrimental to online sales driven by email marketing. And the value of effective email marketing is so great, that making it easy for customers is important - rejecting certain types of email addresses will only aggrevate/lose customers.

So I agree with what a lot have said before - I can't see it being due to using a gmail account - esp. agree with those that have proven so :)

the best way for email is obtain a domain name , say from 123reg.co.uk and usetheir email redirect to gmail.
I have BB via aol.and redirect email to my domain and then redirect to gmail for last few years. Even if I change isp. I only have to direct new email address to my domain ,the rest stays the same, also use for redirects for daughters living away from home ,as you can do 99? I think redirects free.

Anonymous e-mail addresses are not regarded as a good security risk for e-commerce transactions. This is because they are not attached to an ISP account which has a residential address.

That site just posted is not complying with Nominets rules as its trading http://www.nominet.org.uk/other/whois/optout/

I know this may sound a bit rude easyhost, but it has to be said. Do you - by any chance - offer professional web services? If so, could you let me know who you as I think it would be helpful.

why would it be helpful, anyway cant give out own website details on this forum or in a PM.

I have been in the hosting business since 1999, and in the hosting business gmail/yahoo/hotmail are the worst free emails used by fraudsters/spammers.

how much spam does everyone get?

most of this originate from china using gmail/yahoo/hotmail addresses. i even had someone try and signup using a yahoo.co.uk address but they were in Taiwan.

my orderform states the following which has never failed to work. Once someone signs up they can use a free email, its just maxmind block these if use during ordering and these orders then have to be manually checked and approved or rejected. this method stops fraudulent orders
IMPORTANT - You MUST not use a Free email address (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc.) to register with ********* or our anti-fraud system will reject your order. You can use your ISP email, business email, College email, or anything other than a free email address. Once your order is approved you may switch your email address to anything you like.
