I only thought it was yahoo and hotmail ids which were banned since gmail accounts need verification when registered.

no all free email accounts are banned by anti-fraud services. i have a full list but i am not sure i can add the file on here

    Have you been sniffing glue???

At least two of use have set up M&S accounts, TODAY, using gmail addresses and it has worked fine.

DCFC has created an account using his yahoo address.

And to test your theory I've just set up another 3 accounts. One with a hotmail.co.uk address, one with a hotmail.com address and then I went over to freeola, made a stupid email address up and registered with that one too!

Why can't you just admit you are wrong???

    MaxMind Fraud Protection

Techniques used in online card-not-present fraud are becoming more and more sophisticated. Traditional fraud screening tools can only determine if a credit card is legitimate or if the user-entered account information matches those on record. Today, fraudsters can obtain personal credit card information, pose as the legitimate card holder, and bypass standard fraud checks.
MaxMind however will examine an online transaction from various angles. Their tools are not geared towards verifying the authenticity of the credit card details used for the purchase, but rather, identifying if the purchaser is the legitimate card holder. Through analysis, they are able to identify traits and patterns that are associated with fraudulent orders. These include the use of free email accounts associated with fraudulent transaction, these will be barred until accepted or declined by the retailer

    Key Features

    • Geographical IP address location checking
    • High risk IP address and e-mail checking
For added protection, there's also a Telephone Verification Service where the user is called and given a code to enter to verify they are at the number supplied.
