Similarly, as an aside, it is against the law for a pub to serve a drink to an on-duty police officer - even non-alcoholic drinks.
I knew about the police officer scenario, my father used to tell me that all the time (It was his father's fact that he doesn't realise he's already said a million times, i think everyone has one)
However it may be the case that licensed premises have an obligation to provide water to pregnant women but what i don't believe is that it's an obligation only to pregnant women. As already mentioned there is a throwback from old horse and cart type laws that says a person cannot be refused water. Also i know it is the law where i live for licensed premises to provide free tap water and for other non-alcoholic drinks to be available at reasonable prices, this has been the case since 2005, previously there was a byelaw in place to provide water, which came from concerns about recreational drug users and dehydration.Bought, not Brought0 -
I go to a really nice Chinese Restaurant near me, the portions are massive, the food is good and the water is 55p a jug.
I dont mind it because what you pay for the food far outweighs paying for tapwater personally.
However if it wasnt a top quality place I would have a big issue with this as others seem to.2008: CD, mags, book, golf glove,

They make enough from their overpriced food, so charging for tap water is taking the mick. I question what other corners they are cutting if they charge for tap water.
They always supply it in parts of the USA as soon as you sit down with no questions asked. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -

Well my local chinese buffet was in the paper for, erm, supplying meat that had come wandering around the premises iykwim. And I haven't seen many cows wandering around the high street..."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

I think their are allowed to tip you upside down, but not to actually shake you. what they finds. they keeps...Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
Simple solution - move to Japan! :rotfl:
In every cafe and restaurant they automatically give you free chilled water the minute you sit down. Plus - there are no service charges and to tip is deemed offensive!
