Yes Custardy, usually I would have placed more spaces, paragraphs and been making more sense but I was exhauted stressed and had just been speaking with an absolute idiot on an hour long phone call.

I think if someone kept repeating ' we sent you the sim cards, we sent you the sim cards' to everything you said and every comment you made then you might have been a bit burnt out. Thank you for replying .....but constructive it was not :(

well perhaps they would think you would read the letter that accompanied the sim card?
what would you expect them to say?
you dont want constructive, you want to hear its not your fault, the big bad company tricked you and should receive a sound spanking.

I have just had EXACTLY the same experience as Rasselin, the thread starter. I cancelled both by phone and by letter my pay monthly (my sons actually) within the 30 days required, and during the cancellation call was asked if I wanted to accept a pay as you go SIM free, could 'even keep old number" IF I registered it. NOTHING about having to register it. I destroyed the Pay monthly sim the same day.
I also cancelled my DD as I never trust these companies, then lo and behold, 2 days ago got a nasty letter wanting £50+ quid as my contract was still "valid". I also would add I did get the PAYG Sim, but did not open it, and there was NO letter with it.
I won't bore you all with the detail of the frustrating calls, the utterly useless non-english speaking personnel and downright lies they told, but eventually, after 3 calls and 2 hours got to a nice(ish) English lady, who 'credited' me back the £50+ to clear the a/c, but then still had to pass me to the 'cancellations' team who yet again stated I hadn't cancelled, they would cancel it now but I needed to pay for a month (£15). I flatly refused to, and also stated again that no-ore, either verbally or by letter, had said I had to 'register' the PAYG sim to effect this cancellation.
Eventually the cancelations lady capitulated and said a/c and old phone # was closed, and they'd send me a letter. Also I didn't owe anything now.
Do I believe this? Until I see a letter, no, this whole cancellation routine stinks of malpractice, I won't use Orange again. In fact, think I'll stick to PAYG, it's the only way I seem to be able to control my own destiny.
  • And to 'beautiful bagel', it won't help I know, but feel some relief you're not the only poor soul this conning company has moved to tears (of rage, in my case!). Like you, no 'script' and no letter with SiM, and I always read what mail comes in - almost an OCD with me. So I know Orange lied, and I believe you too.

But to 'Custardy' - do you work for Orange? Having read right through this thread, I cannot believe your comments. Do you really believe all us thread writers are that gullible, that thick, or such pathological liars? No, we write because we know we have been wronged, and want to alert others to the malpractices that seem all too common these days.
