but the courses you've applied to do arent teaching then obviously?
Business Studies and ICT are both GCSE subjects and, as far as I know, A level too.
I expect LTD is intending to teach at one of those levels, in which case students have opted in and may be a little more compliant!
Then again, they may not <g>.

CAFCGirl is 100% correct. To teach GCSE or A level at school or in a college (6th form) you HAVE to have a PGCE. The only way to teach without is to go into Adult education. However, there IS a Adult education PGCE and employers will go for a teacher that can offer that. Additionally, work in Adult ed is patchy and on a non contract basis. It is dependent on the course keeping its students. Often you will get a situation where a course is pulled because of lack of students. Adult education is the least funded education sector and whilst it is true you often get less hassle you do get students with the mindset of "I've paid my money and I want.........."I worked in adult education directly after I graduated and found it to be hard work and also it was very insecure, I had to pay for my photocopying(to give as handouts),and was always worrying that one of my students may have to drop out. Adults often do for a number of reasons not just lack of intrest work comittments or family problems can also have an impact. 6th form CAN be better but is a total non starter without a PGCE. The PGCE is a very demanding, pressurised and unforgiving year. Also assuming a student passes the PGCE(there is nowhere near a 100% pass rate)when you apply for a teaching position you are asked for a full medical history. You HAVE to disclose EVERYTHING. Teaching IS a great job(or rather CAN be) BUT............it can also be a living hell.
