my point on this really is ... damned if yo do ... but you wont be out of pocket but your dsr will suffer.... damned if you dont and you will loose your item , your money ,your time ,,, and the buyer will be laughing at you ;

Then your OH needs to stop selling until she can work out why she attracts scammers.

I cannot believe anyone has that sort of percentage of scammers, so that leaves two issues. Either the address labels are poor or there is something in the goods sold that attracts scammers.

My losses are running at about 1 in 1000 items sent (virtually all standard second class) , if it started to slip I would worry that I was doing something wrong in my packaging.

has she pushed and harrassed the PO and RM to ensure that whole bags of items are not being lost, or 'retained' by a postman or someone in the mail centre?

Several Christmasses ago I was selling afghan style coats (they were fashionable and that shows how long ago it was) and my losses started increasing. I made an official complaint and Royal Mail started to secretely track my goods to see what the pattern of losses was and we experimented with different packaging and differetn postal methods- although it is hard to disguise an afghan coat! After several weeks and a lot of telephone calls I was told they had identified an issue at a local mail centre and it was being dealt with, and after that I had no problems at all. In that instance I not only got all my compensation I also got an ex gratia payment for my inconvenience and time spent assisting in tracking down the culprit. Even then my losses were nowhere near at your level.

thanks for that soolin .. the labels are always printed off from the paypal account ;packaging is orange mal bags ; this was commented on as being easily identifiable by sorting staff if they were being stolen and hence further investigation would be needed ; she hasnt herd anything from them for over a week no ; so will get her too persist and try again

Same here. 1 in 10 parcels going missing. Paypal/ebay constantly informing me i should be using recorded mail.

Since December, i've used recorded - NOT ONE item missing yet.

Ebays response - charge less for postage or your account will be restricted.

One of the many reasons i cannot stand Ebay. They just wanted to force me to offer free p&p - so their fees would go up.
