40 parcels a week is costing you £30.80 for recorded, are you really having that many problems with scammers to be able to afford that?

If you factor it into the postal charges, does it matter?

It's costing the buyer. Never had problems with scammers. The way we all do things is different, so what ever works for the individual is best for them. Recorded is best for me.

Forget the 2nd Class Recorded. I actively avoid buying from people who use 2nd Class post as the only postal method because I'm not prepared to wait another 2-3 days just so they can save 20p.

it depends on the item and how quick I want/need it
If a seller offers 2nd class and im in no hurry then i take the cheaper option
  • I don't see why recorded would affect your stars (previuous post). If this is an auction you will probably just get a lower sale price to subsidise your postage.

When selling, put your buyers head on, what would you consider reasonable if you were the buyer?

I have quite high expectations has a buyer, i like my postage to be reasonable, i am happy to pay no more than £1 over the postage price usually, but if an item has taken a lot of packaging im happy to pay a little over that. Delivery time is also another factor, i think two days to package an item and get it posted is plenty, i will avoid who have a longer delivery time scale, unless its something i couldnt get else where, and i would be willing to bid slightly more to get an item within a few days, rather than waiting a week before they even post it!

I consider myself a good buyer, i always pay within a few hours, if not instantly, and will leave feedback quickly after the item has been recieved.

It could. You have to be in the house to sign for items. Those of us who are out and about resent having to wait in for anything worth a few quid. It's not about the money, I factor the postage in to my overall price I'm willing to pay. My local office is having a crack down on leaving with a neighbour, despite next door being a shop and open all day. Last time I had a signed for purchase, I had to go collect.

I won't buy from people who send cheap items recorded. The posties where I live ALWAYS take them back to the sorting office. I work long hours so either have to pay £1.50 to have it sent to a post office or go on the very long trek to the sorting office.

Up to what value would you consider a item cheap?

Most of my items are about £20 or over.

Well my packages fall in RM's small packet. Which wont go through the
letter box so someone has to receive the post when the postman
    knocks on the door.

As a buyer I don't like paying for recorded delivery, and only buy an item if it's recorded if it's either cheaper from that seller, or nobody else is selling it, as it's for the sellers benefit not the buyer.
If an item gets lost I would be refunded by the seller whatever & they would need to claim from RM, that works the same whether it's recorded or you just have COP.
