It's costing the buyer. Never had problems with scammers. The way we all do things is different, so what ever works for the individual is best for them. Recorded is best for me.

AS a seller you are paying not the buyer. If other sellers are selling the same item and buyer has £10 to send then buyer has less to spend on your item than on your competitors. No buyer is going to buy your item which is 77p dearer if he has th echoice of any other seller to buy from.

If you don't have any scammers then exactly why do you use recorded? It doesn't protect you against loss so why spend all that money ?

So why not just do first or second class. If the item goes missing you are covered to £46.

It may be bit too difficult to prove that the item was not delivered under standard post.
At least recorded gives you some traceability and may make it bit
easier when it comes to compensation.

I havent had any issues yet so I am guessing that having some traceability
will make the claim lot simpler?

Actually it may make it harder to claim.

Say your online tracking shows as 'being processed through the network' or whatever the message.......Royal Mail have a more detailed intranet which may show the item as delivered. You lose a Paypal claim and the Royal mail claim.

If an item is lost, it is not up to you to doubt the buyer. Refund them and claim from Royal Mail. They wil be unable to locate the parcel either. So in effect it makes it easier to claim.

You're covered for exactly the same amount, in the same way except with COP it saves you charging the buyer the extra 77pence.

I thought as long as one can prove that the item was delivered then the case is close. Hence if RM shows the item was delivered then
    paypal should not penalise me?

As has already been said by theonlywayisup a standard claim without recorded is easier purely because RM know themselves that recorded often does not track. So with recorded you can be in the position of losing a paypal claim but with RM refusing a pay out because they know it has been delivered, but cannot update the online tracking. In that instance you get the standard apology and the 77p returned due to their failure to obtain a signature.

Recorded mail *is* standard mail and carries no more benefit than standard 1st or 2nd class.

Blimey! Calm down love. We all do things different ways. Every time someone mentions recorded delivery Soolin, you go off on one. I am VERY happy with the way I run my eBay business. And as for 'no buyer is going to buy your item', what a ridiculous thing to say. I've no desire to prove my eBay success to yourself. But I'm happy with it, enough said. Just because YOU choose not to use recorded, others have a use for it.

You're starting to sound like a right overbearing nagg. Give your opinion, and listen to others, don't tell others they're wrong, just because they're different to you, be a boring ole world if we all did what you do, now wouldn't it, eh?

I just hate people throwing their money away and I see too many people who think that recorded means they will never get another claim.

I am very happy to hear of any business that can support these additional costs without blinking, and I applaud anyone who has so much profit that a few hundred pounds a year makes no difference at all.
