Just a quick question regarding the fees. If I am currently a student in my second year going into my final year then after that I chose to do a PGCE at my university. Will I have to pay the full £9000 fees or will the fee stay at £3250ish? Seems crazy the government will offer me a £9000 bursary to do it as an incentive when I will have to take out a student loan for that much on tuition fees!

    Thanks.

I think MSE towers have stopped reading this thread. Hope you find your answer from somewhere else. The Student Room forum is pretty good.

TSR was only good for this kind of thing when I was left to run the student loans section without interference. Now, a lot of the advice is incorrect.

Indeed, whilst doing LEA work on the matter. I'd do individual casework for people with more complex problems, and was on hand to answer all other queries. Unfortunately, a member of their staff wasn't too keen on something at a christmas do that didn't really involve them, and leaked my identity. Made it impossible for me to give advice, as the SLC disliked that I was correcting their advisors.

Taiko, I would be interested to know, is there anything in the MSE guide you would see as in need of correction or further clarification?

MSE declined my assistance in it's publication, so I'm not going to point out any errors.

Sorry if I touched on a sore point, that was not my intention!

  • We Have been researching The Rise In tuition fees for our school project.
We live in Rochdale, it has got bad press over the recent years for having the most people on benefits in the area.
We found the rise in tuition fees EXTREMELY BIAS to the wealthier people in this country as they will be able to afford University for their children.
As we all know , there is bad press about how our countries unemployment levels are so high at this moment in time.
But how do they expect us to improve this employment when our opportunities are being taken away from us.
Also, only a small majority of children with wealthy parents will be able to go to University leaving a huge majority of people , who are clever enough to go to University wont be able to , leaving therefore room for more unemployment in our country...

OED definition of 'afford': "have enough money to pay for".

Everyone will be able to afford to go to university as everyone has access to tuition fee and maintenance loans.

I'm no fan of the tuition hike but yours isn't an argument to use against them. I admire you coming to post here though.
