LW Love the doggy..... looks like a great character.

Don't have any eggs so will have to make some melting moments. Was going to do twinks, but feel like a change.
:rotfl: Sidney certainly is a character - he's great fun, it's the third time we've looked after him. Showing his age a tad now (he's 11 and diabetic) but still very enthusiastic for his walks!:D

Mr LW has mentioned in the past that his mum (may she rest in peace) used to make something called Melting Moments; he says they were delicious, but doesn't have a recipe, or even know a list of ingredients. I wonder if the recipe you use is The One? Could I be cheeky and ask you for it please?:o

Yes I used to make them too. In fact I made them for a competition. I have just consulted my much loved Be-Ro recipe book. Cant recommend this little book highly enough and can be bought for pennies off their website. Ok.....

    65 g (2.5 oz) Marg or butter
    40g (1.5) lard
    75 g (3 oz) caster sugar
    1/2 medium egg
    5ml vanilla essence
    150g (5oz) Be-Ro Self Raising flour
    oats/ desiccated coconut
    glace cherries

Heat oven to 180 C, 350 F, gas 4. Grease two baking trees
Cream the margarine, lard and the sugar until very light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla
Stir in the flour and mix well
Roll walnut size pieces of the mixture into balls and toss in oats or coconut
Place on baking tray, flatten slightly and place small piece of cherry on top
    Bake for 10-15 mins.

I have been shopping this morning. Looking for something nice to wear but tbh wan't in the mood so came home sharpish. I will look out one of my dresses so MS. Everything made me look fat and frumpy. I have to update my image and lose a few pounds. I have gone from underweight to just a bit over and i dont like the way it makes me feel:(:(:(

I went to B00ts and got two lots of 3 4 2 on No7 cosmetics plus 2x £5 vouchers off and perfume with 20 pound off. Couldnt believe it was so bargainous today. Also the lady who served me updated my card and I had 10 pounds of outstanding points lurking from xmas (internet sales). Now that shows the last time I actually shopped face-to-face. Anyway DD is now sorted for cosmetics and perfume for xmas and birthday:T:T:T

Im in need of a rest now so will just potter around for the rest of the day. Hugs x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Afternoon all! Home for my lunch break :) beans on toast! YUM! the dog is going nutty, wish i had the time to walk him before i go back to work - he pulls too much at the moment for lead walks so a short one won't really do and will get him wound up! But come 5pm i'm diving home to get him and we'll go out.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
We've just walked our two (border collies). We walked hard for an hour - we are more than ready for a rest, the dogs would do it all again and more, given the chance! Enjoy your walk later, Bramble!
Think this lappie is on the way out - two and a half years old! Gets incredibly ( and I mean burningly!) hot and is getting slower and slower. Am seriously wondering about changing to apple - more expensive I know, but much longer life expectancy. Any apple users out there to convince me?
We had pumpkin filled pasta for lunch with salad. I'd bought it as a treat for me when I expected DH to be away. He's not keen, but ate it without comment! Tonight will be spag. bol.
Still haven't got to either my file or the outstanding minutes. Not sure where the morning has gone really...

Went shopping this morning ....Oh what joy :p I hate food shopping and things must be getting worse because Aldi was heaving, it is not normally as busy on a Thursday morning but in the last few weeks it has really been packed out.

Went into Oxfam and fell in love with a floor standing torchiere and it was only £4.99 DH said I couldn't have it  so I have phoned DD to pick it up for me :p I just hope it is still there - i will try and post a piccie if I get it

Dinner tonight is stuffed mushrooms with peppered steak

    take care everyone x

Afternoon everyone, been MIA recently as its been hectic. Been spending most weekends down at MILs which has meant that I then spend the whole week catching up with myself. So far this week (since Tuesday) I've cleaned the house, washed the best part of 6 loads of washing, got OHs clothes for next week sorted, and everything for the weekend sorted out clothes wise. I'm planning on taking a chicken casserole and a large chocolate cake with us in the motorhome tomorrow. We're taking the van down to MILs and leaving it there for a week or two as its cheaper to do that than keep bringing it up and down the motorway. Her cats did well at the vets - both are healthy, but one is slightly underweight and one overweight! I can sort that out though.

Have to do the awful job of paying bills this afternoon - yuk. Still I'd rather pay little and often than in BIG lumps. Right better get on as the boys need picking up shortly!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Where has the day gone?! The infant school was closed this morning due to a gas leak, so I've had 5 children at home this morning (3 of my own, and 2 extras)... my friend's dd said 'Liz, your house is soooooo messy today, you should get my mummy to tidy it:rotfl:
Spent the morning filling in solicitor's forms and ringing people about the house purchase - we're nowhere near moving yet, but already I'm fed up with the whole process:mad:
Hope everyone is having a good afternoon:D

    Afternoon all

NPM hope you are having a better day today.

    Beemuzed hope OH is improving

Thanks for the good wishes again, yes I did manage to sleep last night, think I was so tired after being up all the night before that an army could have tried to break in and I wouldnt have heard them lol Mind you DD1 did stay the night with me, I have told her to go sleep at home tonight - I will have to get used to being on my own and not panicking some time so the sooner the better I reckon!

Has been my official day off today (as opposed to the enforced one yesterday waiting in for locksmith) so went for a wander round the city centre, then cut grass etc this afternoon and did a bit of weeding. Not sure what to have for tea, maybe jacket potato with something, at least I can just please myself now and not have to cater for anyone else:o

Hope you are all having good days

    x

By the way thanks for the congratulations re weight loss, I have updated it as I have lost more since then, not the best way to do it, as lost alot of it just after marriage breakdown, when I couldn't eat but am eating really healthily now and it is still coming off slowly!

best laid plans and all that my sewing went out the window as my eldest DD descended on me for lunch unexpectedly. But I don't mind as it doesn't happen often. Then after she went around 1.30 I had four phone calls from various friends (all chatty ones) and eventually gave up trying to concentrate ,will try again tomorrow .The lights not so good and if I sew under artificial light I end up with a headache .very overcast after the bright sunny start and it looks like its going to bucket down any minute.Sardine salad for dinner tonight and I think I will have a rummage around the tin cupboard for some tinned fruit to have for pudding.
DD's getting quite excited about our forthcoming trip to Ghent on Saturday. She is picking me up at 05.30 a.m. and we don't get home until 11.00.p.m.Still I can get a snooze on the coach as I can sleep on a washing line :):) Have a good evening everyone
    Cheers JackieO xx
