Well fantastic news, the lady who did the home check thought the house was great and the room we have to start the cats in she said is brilliant. Also she was very happy with our back yard.

So two gorgeous little black cats will be joining our family next Saturday.

The rescue centre is going to lend us a top loading carry case so we can bring them home. So this weekend we will be out buying all the stuff we need.

She said it doesn't matter what food we get as they get fed lots of different brands at the sanctuary however they do like good biscuits.

Apparently both cats can be tempted quite easily with chicken or ham so will have to stock up on that. She feels that in a nice home with the same people seeing them every day they will come on very well.

    So excited :j:j

Thank you so much everyone for all your help and advice it has been fantastic. I will hopefully be able to post some pictures once the cats are with us.

I feel excited and happy for YOU! well done!
I am sure the kittys will soon settle down - and I am sure you are doing everything right - I know its hard but please dont overwhelm them with gifts and affection at first! your idea of just sitting in the room is a good one - let them come to you! (it does help if you take in a few bits of chicken or ham or beef and put them a few feet away from you the first time, if they come out and take them put them a bit closer .............or you may find the kits want to investigate YOU!) GOOD LUCK!! let us know how it goes!

So so pleased for you, I bet you will be the talk of the rescue because you have done so much planning and preparing. Homecheckers love placing long termers in wonderful forever homes.

PLEASE buy toys from Purrsinourhearts, most of what is on the high street is utter rubbish and you need your furbabies to be spellbound! My last order arrived a day and a half after placing it online, sometimes it takes a little longer if something is out of stock but Tan (the lovely lady who runs the shop) ALWAYS e-mails you right away to say, and will usually offer a partial refund or to split the order at no extra cost. I am sure she will if you tell her you are taking two shy rescues and need stuff ASAP as all profits go to rescue.

If you decide to get a Feliway diffuser to help them feel secure eBay is £20 delivered, Pets at Home £36 IIRC. The eBay seller I contacted willingly agreed to post out the next day when I PM'd to say my girl was arriving imminently. Great service once again and very MSE.

Well I thought I would update everyone and let you know our babies came home with us today. They coped very well in the car and although it took them a couple of hours to come out the travel case they seemed to have settled well. Our boy Milo was a little unsure but let my husband stroke him. Our girl Sadie is very nosy and had a good look round and them decided she would be queen of the castle and is currently asleep on a box onto of a cupboard. I will try and post some pictures as they are totally gorgeous.

Thank you to everyone for their help and advice.
  • Awwwww, I was thinking about you earlier!

So pleased to hear they've (finally) arrived (bet the past week or so has felt like a year) and are settling in well.

A stroke on day 1 is fantastic - and promises loads for the future:D.

Looking forward to seeing those pics!!!!!

You need to upload it to a site such as Photobucket.

Once done, there is a "share" option, chose that then "get link code" and then copy the one for forums.

To insert into a post, click on the "insert image" button (to the right of BIU at the top, looks like a yellow envelope with a stamp and mountains on) and past the link in - finally, remove the at each end of the link. Can't wait to see them!
