Waiting for a proposal - how did you stay sane?!

My best friend got engaged 5 years ago her now husband asked me to help him choose something she liked. He has some serious pennies (parents were wealthy etc) so I never asked how much he was willing to spend, anyways... he got her a custom made diamond butterfly (as in the diamond is in the shape of a butterfly ) it is stunning and she loves butterflies so of course that was the one for her...
Her 'best friend' (they're not really best friends any more) is the sort of girl who it's all about how much you spend... splashed all over facebook that her ring cost over £5000... my bestie was so embarrassed... She didn't want to know and she certainly didn't want everyone else to know... (so now I am telling you but you don't know her so it's fine... lol!)
I was meant to be cheif bridesmaid for her wedding but we drifted apart (I knew her through her cousin - who I was dating - when we split up it was awkward to see her!) but about 6 months before the wedding we made up and we are bestest friends now... threw her a hen party at my house and we had a brilliant time - much better than what her hubby had planned :rotfl:
I don't want to know how much mine cost, right now I am still happy with a Harribo ringxxx
omg:eek: how on earth would the 'best friend' know what it costs, and tbh I bet it cost far more than that, did she just pluck a figure out of thin air! I would have gone mad, and had her delete such utter nonsense straight away.
I didnt want to know what mine cost, but I never do with xmas presents or birthdays either. It was only as I needed copies of receipts I found out....
I totally know what you mean about posting on here, I say so much more on here about costs, but it is all in the name of :money:Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Sounds like everyone is having a great day so far, the bracelet is lovely RD!
My Valentines day SUCKS, I am sooooo upset with OH.
We agreed last week that we wouldn't do presents, just cards (as per every other year, which is fine). I got up and made him coffee this morning, as I do every morning and I took it in to the bedroom with his card and left him to open it.
After he got dressed he came and thanked me for his card and then told me that he hadn't even got me one yet, so I told him that there wasn't much point getting one now and then he says he didn't think we were doing them?! He NEVER listens to me. It's not like he has anything planned as a surprise tonight either as I am going to mums for dinner and he knows this.
He never remembers our anniversary either, not even when I had it printed on calendar for him showing all his families birthdays and anniversaries, yet when he forgot his mums and dads and she went ballistic at him he was round there like a flash with a card.
Gutted.
Oh sweet, that is rubbish, what a meanie he is! Men are generally rubbish, wish we knew him so we could bend his ear!
Biggest of big hugs xxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0 -
Boosting from Prague here...it is beautiful but before you get excited on my behalf I'm pretty sure there is no proposal...I searched his luggage when he was in the bathroom (don't judge me you all would do the same!) and no ring in sight. Now that iMm sure at least it means I can just relax and enjoy myself and won't be disappointed. Hope everyone has a lovely valentine's!
My OH hid my ring in the hood of a rain jacket when we went to New York so there was no chance of coming across it by accident.0 -

aw that does SUCK BIG TIME.
Have to say tho my oh last week said are we doing pressies:eek:. I said I can not say whether he is to buy one or not but not to think a ring on my finger should make him think differently to others years. I did say it in a jokey way, but if he hadnt got me anything I would have been so upset, do not judge me I just would have. Mind he has not wrote my card out yet........
He is very good pressi wise. Maybe once a month he will bring home flowers and chocolate etc, does yours maybe do that at other times?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

She is the sort of person to want to know but yeah he probably did and it probably did cost more, she's the sort of person that won't let you tag her in pics incase she doesn't look good... I do it anyway hahahahahahaha!

He does bring me home flowers occasionally and the odd choccie bar but I got my exam results yesterday and I passed both exams which was a mjaor achievement as I am in my final throes of ACCA and he normally gets me something to celebrate but he didn't.At least my mum text me I suppose!
