Waiting for a proposal - how did you stay sane?!

Not at all chicacherrycola!
Another family engagement on my side too..0 -
I got engaged in July and we have been together since April 2010. Sounds weird but we just knew about each other and having jokingly talked about marriage since very early on. So we both knew we would, but I was getting very frustrated waiting for my damn proposal :P
Last Christmas I was *sure* it was coming as he kept telling me how he'd got something very special and I would "remember this one forever" - but he had got me a 3D printing pen!! It was our first Christmas in our place, and previously he'd said he didn't want to get engaged while we still lived with his mum! So I was well and truly tricked there!0 -
Me again - I am actually going crackers.
We are going to a wedding do this weekend with all the fam and I am not looking forward to the 'so you'll be next' 'when is your your turn' type comments. Anyone else dread these things for this reason!
We'll have been together 10 years at the end of this year which I think is quite a big thing. I don't want to expect to be asked but I kind of am expecting some kind of big gesture and I'm annoyed because I don't think he will. Then I'm annoyed at myself for being annoyed!
I'm rambling - sorry!0 -
I hate all the "you're next" type comments as well! I feel like it's very rude for people to quiz you about when you're going to get married just because they want to go to another wedding or because they think you should be "getting a move on" (as they like to say!).0

Congratulations0 -
chicacherrycola - can you deflect the questions onto your OH? So when someone asks when it's your turn, tell them they'll have to ask [OH name]. Other people asking may mean he comes up with a decent answer.0

No ring for Christmas - but I did get thoroughly spoiled

Yep I am still here and waiting HBS hahaha
No Christmas ring for me either, nor on my big birthday which passed a few weeks before. Family raised it with him as they expected it and he said it didn't even cross his mind!
Although he has said that he would have proposed ages ago if he could have afforded to... so there is hope yet!0 -
