my oldest daughter is left handed, my gran taught her how to knit (she was right handed) they found the best way was to sit in front of a mirror, and thats how she learned
she tried to teach me, but i still cant knit, both my mother & grandmother, fantastic knitters as well:(
suppose we cant all be brilliant at everything, when i find what i'm brilliant at i'll let you know!!!:rotfl:0 -
finally got round to hanging up the felt garland and taking a photo. Think i need to take a better picture in day time as the false light is casting shadows . but here it is hanging accross the fireplace in our dining room.

and i made this mummy keyring for me. It has all my childrens yrs on it and a colour bead for their sex . the 02 with a star is for our baby we lost who is now a bright start in the sky at night. it didn't feel right not including our angel. i love it and it will be used with great pride.
i've been busy doing the teachers gifts, but i won't post those pic's until after my children have given them as gift's.0 -
I don't post much but just wanted to say that I love the mummy keyring and the sentiment with the dates - what a truly beautiful idea.
Hope you don't mind me asking but how do you make the keyring with the beads? would love to give it a go if you could give any instructions/tips as I wouldn't have a clue!
Look forward to seeing some pics of the Teachers presents once they have been handed out - I bet they are lovely.0 -

Because of your thread i've been very naughty and spent most of today looking at YouTube tutorials and googling different crochet sites but... it still all so confusing to me at the moment! I so want to learn so i am going to ask my MIL to teach me! But in the meantime i am going to knit the blankets instead and learn to crochet on the side if my MIL have the patients for me or if i have any for her LOL!
Keep up the good work and maybe one day soon i can post some of my blanket makes...
Hi jcr16, after you inspired me to crochet i've mastered the basics! Since my last post here i've knitted my DD a blanket and crochet the edges with crochet flowers too! And there was me telling you i couldn't do it! I am now in the middle of attaching my granny squares together for a blanket for DS. Thank you for this thread and showing us your fab makes and more importantly giving me the kick to learn! x0 -

What a fab thread. I love all the things you have made, you are very talented.
I've knitted 2 scarves in the last 6 months and am very proud of them having not knitted a thing for over 30 years. I kept one and gave one to my best friend. Did a few mug hugs, which I thought I may make for people at Christmas.
Love your hearts, they are stunning, but can I just ask do you hand sew them, because the stitches are so neat. Do you have any tips for getting them to look perfect every time?
Will look forward to seeing your other makes, particularly the gifts for teachers.

I am so impressed your makes are fantastic, really inspired me to get crafting again! So much so that I've just ordered a bucket load of felt, not sure what I'm gonna do with it though!
My cousin taught me to crochet when i was about 10 (now 28) and I haven't done any in over 15 years but last year i found out i was pregnant so got the hooks out and it all came flooding backso i made a blanket for my little one! I get so many comments about how lovely it is and it is just a huge granny square!
I love how fulfilling making something is just hope dd likes it as much as i do when she's older, can't wait to start crafting with her! x0
