thankyou , thats just what my hubby said. i wouldn't even know where to start, as i've got so many ideas of things to make. i've looked at prices for similar ones and they seem to go for quite alot.

Angelea, i use 3 sets of pilers, bent nose for folding the wire over, then round nose nose to make the loop, then the bent nose to wrap the wire back round to form the twist part, then side cutters to snip it tight to be neat. hope thats makes sence.

thankyou all for such wonderful comments. i've made my dd even more bracelets today , and put the finishing touches on to hubbys sock monkey. but as he's home at mo i can't take a picture of it yet. But i have to say i love it, it is so cute looking. my youngest son keeps asking to give it to daddy, i just hope hubby hasn't twigged yet.

Well here he is hubbies sock monkey.

    sundaymakespart2005.jpg

hubby is a spark for a well known large company so as he wanted his monkey for his van i thought a sparks monkey would be good. i couldn't find any hi-vis type felt so i used a bright yellow. not too sure about the hard hat as hard to make. but until i find a small one i've made one. and the tool belt, i managed to find some charms on ebay which suited perfectly.

And as hubby always has an earring and necklace , so does monkey.

i hope hubby loves it, i know the kids do. my youngest has been taking monkey for a ride round the house in the dolls prams this morning :rotfl:

and heres 2 more bracelets i made for my little girl.

todays makes are gonna be just a scented heart for hubbys nan ( b'day pressie) and proberly another sock monkey. my children are crazy on them.lol.

bought some more wool so if i get chance then i'll do some more on my dd crochet blanket.

What a fantastic monkey! You've considered every detail.

I love the bracelets you are so talented with them. Years ago I bought myself a bracelet and the end pieces were like your angel one, where it had metal links as well as ribbon going through the beads. Unfortunately the end part broke on one side and I couldn't find a way to fix it so in the end I used the bracelet as a charm for my scissors.

So I'm wondering how you would go about fixing that kind of problem? Did you use your own cord and fit it into the end clasps?

jcr, your makes are lovely! One thing about the sock monkey, have you considered making an actual belt out of brown/black fabric and attaching the charms to that?

i used a clasp like this

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FOLD-OVER-CORD-ENDS-12x4mm-SILVER-COLOUR-Pack-50-/390278800152?pt=UK_Crafts_JewelleryMaking_GL&hash=item5ade6de318

i held 3 strands of the cotton thong in place with one pair of pliers ( bent nose, or flat long nose ones) then i use a pair of flat end pliers to fold the sides of the clasp in, doing one side at a time. this then holds the thong securely. Hope that makes sence hun, hard to describe something i just get on and do ,lol.

nykied, i made the tool belt from a blue piece of felt. i didn't reaslise it matched so well until i took the picture, lol. The only reason i used blue was hubbys tool belt is navyish sort of blue, but i didn't have any felt that dark, so i choose a lighter blue, but i wanted to try and keep it as close to what he wears as poss.

But i see what your saying , it would make it stand out more. If i tried to colour match i wouldn't of been able to would i,lol.

Oh, I see that now that you've pointed it out! And yes, you're right, if you'd been aiming for a match, you wouldn't have got anywhere near - always the way ;)

It could just be the flash on the camera making it blend in.
