Well I can already see in this thread, with this thread whether you realize it or not you have done something good for them.

People will try to promote the headlines "Ryanair try to block FairFx". If they want to block FairFx they should also block other pre-paid cards such as Neteller, Escape, CaxtonFx, etc.

Mind you FairFx have done this kind of thing in the past as a marketing ploy. The link that I have given you previously is just an example. In the past there are also various threads which try to create image that they are much better in comparison to other pre-paid card. Someone working for FairFx perhaps ...
Why would they tell me to wait 24 hours before attempting to use the card again if Ryanair had not blocked it? There is no advantage to them in it not being used. It was blocked over 3 days...I made something like a dozen attempts in that time to book the flight, eventually having no option but to make the booking using a debit card and incur the charges, as the sale was ending. It went through without a hitch, first time. Suddenly all those 'system errors' and 'incorrectly entered details' were nowhere to be found.

How do you know that Ryanair have not blocked other cards also? The few people who have posted on this thread are not an exhaustive cross section of customers and as I have said, I have posted my own experience this past week and that only pertains to one card and one airline. It is simply an attempt to get to the bottom of what appears to be underhand tactics, by an airline with a reputation for just this kind of behaviour.

I have posted on here so rarely in the past 5 years since joining. I am quite disappointed by the few cynical comments, suspicious of a persons motives for even asking the question. I am a fan of what Martin is trying to do and I believe in educating myself and standing up for my rights as a consumer. I have asked Trading Standards to look into this and if they receive a number of similar complaints then I have no doubt that both Ryanair AND FairFX will have to account for themselves and that's as it should be.

Do not take it in the wrong way. I am not accusing you. I just mentioned one possibility that FairFx is trying to promote their product in this way.

As I mentioned previously it seems that they have done that in the past. Also as highlighted by one post that there is a problem with one serial of their card which has been reported. The question here, why did not they tell about this in the first instance, instead they were accusing that Ryan Air was trying to block their card .... If Ryan Air is to block FariFx card they should have blocked any other Pre Payment cards ..

Please be aware I am not saying that Ryan Air is not trying to block Pre-Paid cards, I simply do not know this. But for me it is quite odd if it is only FairFx get blocked. It is proven that one serial of their cards get problem, why they did not tell you about this in the first instance, instead they are blaming Ryan Air ? They do not want to look bad ... ?

Let the reader on this MSE - forum make their own decision ...

They asked my card number straight away, which begins 5195 and therefore not one of those beginning 5313 reported as having a problem so that was not an issue.

They also said nothing about Ryanair blocking cards the first time I called. It was only when I called again the following day and pressed them for any other possible explaination that they brought it up. I felt it was therefore not company policy designed to promote their own ends, but one particular Customer Service employee who was genuinly trying to help me, as I was clearly at the end of my tether.

my Neteller card is being declined by 'ryanair at the moment. The funds are "pending" in my Neteller account but I'm sure i've booked with Ryanair before when they've been pending - maybe I'm mistaken - anyone know if this is correct?

I had the same thing happen I am afraid with a Fair FX card. They issued a booking reference, said the funds were 'pending' and then nothing happened. I went into the Manage My Booking section on the website and entered the code they had given me but there was no record of my booking. The site said they could not find any such reference despite them having issued it to me a couple of hours before. It delayed my attempts to rebook because I needed to make sure that I didnt end up paying twice. I have had a combination of 'pending' 'refused' 'declined' and gave up trying after three days.

If you feel you are being deliberately messed around by the airline to discourage the use of a card with no fees, it might be wise to call Neteller and see what they say. I have taken my case to Trading Standards, as you can see from earlier posts.

All transactions with your neteller card go into "pending" after you've just made them.

What case do you have ? Your card declined?
