I've chosen the FREE option, but only because I have never paid for any form of AV. So I can't really say FREE is better than PAID, but it surely can't be any worse?

Have been using Avast for years now, never let me down.

AVG/AVAST are basic anti-virus software and not full Internet Security Software. i have never used the free AV software, so i personally cant comment on it, but id rather have fill Internet security rather than a free basic software that only is anti-virus protection

You say that but with a secondary scanner like Mbam i have never had an infection on my computer in years and years. Even chrome and avast alert me to malicious webpages before i get onto them and this even includes forums where people have posted malicious links somewhere.
Now as i said yesterday i upgraded to the full version of Mbam and found it intrusive and stopping me from doing what i wanted to do withprompts every 5 mins or so saying they had blocked a port and so on and so forth. Seems a waste to pay for something when free seems to keep me nice and clean anyway.

Avast free for me at the moment plus windows 7 firewall. It does all I need and is streets ahead of the McAfee suite offered free by BT. I don't know how I lived with that.
Coincidentally I was reading an article yesterday on this subject.

Kaspersky is one of the better paid for suites, however where you got AVG being good on your previous post i will never know as AVG hasnt been good for about 3 years and in most tests seems to come in the bottom half virtually every time
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

well before going with kaspersky i tried mcafee and that was rubbish i also used norton which was doing its job, until i had a problem and spend 3 solid days on chat and phone with their techs and at the end i gave up when they told me they had not a clue what to do. i was even a reseller of symantec products but after my experience i told them what they could do with their products.

    So we can summarise thus:

Some paid for AV programs are rubbish, as are some free ones.
Some paid for AV programs are good, as are some free ones.

Don't think you're going to get mush more support than that, given that this is a money saving site, and a lot of the techies on here are perfectly happy with free security products.
