heretolearn, you were right! It was the first time I contacted the Charity Commission and was too optimistic. They said they would respond in 15 working days. It is now twice that and they have not responded. I have chased them twice and still nothing. I am disgusted even more now :(

Julie: hopefully, you'll get an answer from the CC soon.

If not, then it may well be about time this publicly-funded (and expensively so!) 'watchdog' body was dragged under a spotlight. I, for one, would be more than happy to lodge a complaint with my MP. The same could apply in your case, and also the author of the frugal ways blog I referred to in my post on the concurrent charity doorstep collections thread:

If, as frugal says, £millions of taxpayer funds are being poured into the Charities Commission, then public (taxpayer) accountability has to be treated by the CC anything but lightly.
  • I recently read the above article in regards to the eveyones childrens trust. i have to say that many of the points raised are incorrect and wrong. i have rang the phone number stated on the charity commision website which works perfectly well. also the website clearly states it is down due to maintenance. i have read many good and posative things about this charity and the hard work it does and the money spent on good causes. this is one of the many childrens charaties i support and will continue to do so. due to some very sad pesonal circumstances i beleive childrens charaties such as this one are a vital asset to this country.

And what is your position within this "charity"?

You are specifically wrong marka1989 and all my several checks reveal that no such website name has ever been registered.

To be clear I searched for everyonesct.org.uk

How is it you saw a message saying that the website was down for maintenance ? - I didn't, nor will anyone else who looks.

    I'll dig deeper.

Make of this what you will.

The charity/company is registered at Companies House.
    EVERYONES CHILDRENS TRUST

    Status: Active
    Date of Incorporation: 30/10/2007

    Country of Origin: United Kingdom
Company Type: PRI/LBG/NSC (Private, Limited by guarantee, no share capital, use of 'Limited' exemption)
    Nature of Business (SIC(03)):
    7487 - Other business activities
    Accounting Reference Date: 31/10

    Further details here

Nothing to say you can't be a charity and an incorporated entity though.
    Established March 2009
    Registered Charity Number 1127302

Doesn't match the date of incorporation. Maybe things are just not well organised. Sometimes people's goodwill outstrips their abilities.

    I leave others to judge.

  • the website address for this charity is everyones and NOT everyonesct. the telephone number is answered by a lady at their office and i got a reply to the email that i sent.

i cannot find anything "bogus" about this charity

Still no success vic35 and it would be more helpful to state what it is rather than offer differing alternative spelling possibilities as to the domain name. It would be quite plausible to admit if the site were never set up, and I would have expected that my searches would have thrown up a past or present website that included the name of the charity.

I am being most cautious about making any accusation against a charity, which is why I haven't done so and have only reported publically available facts, but the excuses are what disturb me most of all.
